We had a pretty cool customer in the shop the other night!
Shawn, who owns and operates Boro Big Game Recovery, stopped in. He needed mods and left with a new Hoyt RX9!
If you haven’t heard of them, check them out! Shawn and his dog Cali are one heck of a team. I’ve even been told Cali might be ALMOST as good as Randy. 😂
In all seriousness, if you’re ever unsure of your shot, BACK OUT AND EVALUATE THE SITUATION. A good tracking dog can make an incredible difference in recovering a wounded animal.

KYLE’S NOT-SO-PRO TIP:
After I shoot a deer, once I’ve lost sight and sound of it, the FIRST thing I do is pull out my phone and record a video. Before I call or text anybody.
I point with my finger and talk through EVERYTHING. Where I first saw the deer, where it stopped, where I shot it, and the exact path it took before disappearing.
Why? Because I personally tend to black out from excitement and can barely remember if the deer was even legal.
CALM DOWN. I make sure it’s legal BEFORE I draw back. 😂
Seriously though, that little video helps me remember details I might otherwise forget, especially when it’s time to start tracking.
Hopefully that’s a new idea for some of you, and hopefully it helps you recover a deer someday!
