William (Bill) Young:

• Age 83 Years Young

• Bill was diagnosed in the summer of 2020; however, I probably had Parkinson's for 10 or more years before then.

• Up until about 70 years I led a very active life, including travel. I was a runner, gardener, played golf twice a week, and being a grandparent for 6 grand kids. However, at 70 years I started losing strength and stamina and I knew something was affecting me. I asked my GP, and she said it was probably old age. Then by chance a retired neurologist came by to give me a physical for insurance purposes and he noticed something that others had missed. He contacted my GP who put me in touch with a local Neurologist and confirmed I had Parkinson’s.

• There have been a rapid increase in the number of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s in recent years. Congress has a bill before it that would substantially increase the funding for research to find a cure for the disease. The public needs to contact their congressman/women and ask them to support the bill.

• Each Parkinson’s patient is unique in their symptoms.

• Exercise is the best way to slow the progression of Parkinson’s.

• Rocksteady Boxing is an excellent program for Parkinson’s patients.
