One of the things I've always appreciated about Sayoc Kali is that it teaches you to think—not simply memorize movements.

This Saturday in Houston, we'll spend some time exploring that approach.

I’ve been posting a lot about our fighters this weekend, but there are a whole lot of people back home who deserve some love too.

Every person who came out to a fundraiser. Every person who donated or helped out. Every training partner who held pads, gave rounds, pushed somebody through a hard night of training, or simply told one of these fighters, “You’ve got this.”

And everybody who tuned in, sent messages, and cheered us on from hundreds of miles away.

You were part of this weekend too.

Nobody gets into that ring alone. There’s a whole lot of work, sacrifice, friendship, and support standing behind them.

I’m incredibly grateful for our people.

This is what we mean when we say:

Pride is family.

Thank you for having our backs.

Fighting has a way of keeping everybody honest.

Dakota Wilkinson started strong today and was looking good, but his opponent found the liver with a solid shot and Dakota couldn’t answer the count.

That’s Muay Thai.

You can do everything right and one good shot can change the fight.

If you’re willing to play this game long enough, sooner or later you’re going to find yourself on both sides of moments like this.

Nothing but respect for Dakota’s opponent and his team. Great fighter. Great gym. We’re thankful for the opportunity to share the ring with them.

We take the lesson, make the adjustments, and keep moving forward.

THE CANDYMAN DID IT. 🍭🥊

Charlie Johnson gets the strap with a third-round TKO.

We had a game plan. Charlie listened and executed it.

His boxing looked better than I’ve ever seen it. He took control in the clinch, started putting those knees to work, and eventually forced the stoppage.

That’s how you want to see a fighter perform. Listen. Adjust. Trust the work. Execute.

And make no mistake—he had a tough kid standing across from him. There are no chumps at the Tournament of Champions. Nothing but respect for his opponent and his team.

We’ve got things to sharpen when we get home.

We always will.

But The Candyman definitely handed out a few cavities behind today. 🍬🏆

Not every fight ends with your hand getting raised.

Connor “The Highlander” Johnson went three hard rounds with a tough opponent today and came up short.

But damn, the improvement from his last fight was there.

He listened. He followed the game plan. He stayed in the fight and showed a hell of a lot of heart.

We just took too long to get going.

Connor didn’t really find his pace until the third round. When he finally did, we started seeing what we know he’s capable of. Now the job is figuring out how to bring that Connor out from the opening bell.

That’s why we take tough fights.

They tell the truth.

They show you what you’ve fixed, what still needs work, and where we need to put our time when we get back in the gym.

Would we rather have the W? Hell yes.

But we’re not looking for easy fights or participation trophies. We’re looking for opportunities to test ourselves, find the holes, and get better.

Much respect to his opponent and his team for giving us exactly that opportunity.

Proud of you, Highlander.

Take the lesson. Get back to work. Come back better.

We are currently about 15 fights away from Connor.

They are stacking bouts in the rings, so if you’re following along from home, keep an eye on those bout numbers! Based on the numbers, our fighters should be roughly 30 minutes apart—but with bouts being stacked…that can shift out time frame ahead pretty quickly.

Man, I’m proud of this kid.

Cole “The Slaw” Harvey went to WAR in that championship bout.

This was his first real step into the adult division, and there was no easing into the shallow end. Tough opponent. Great school. Close fight. Back and forth from beginning to end.

Exactly the kind of fight we came looking for.

We knew his opponent was a southpaw, so we built a plan specifically around that. Cole listened. He trusted the work we’d done. He followed the plan and brought the heat when it was time to bring it.

And he got the strap. 🏆

That’s Cole.

He’s 18 years old, works his ass off, listens, leads, and sets an example for everyone else on our team. He doesn’t just talk about wanting to be good at this. He puts the work behind it.

There are no chumps at the Tournament of Champions. Much respect to the man across the ring and his team. They gave us one hell of a battle.

Cole showed he deserves to be here.

And the scary part?

He’s just getting started.
