Why is it so important for scuba divers to equalise their ears? 🤿 👂 As you descend, pressure increases. This pressure causes the ear drum to flex inwards. When that pressure is felt on the ears, or even before, divers equalise. This causes air to flow into the middle air and counteract that increase of pressure, allowing the inner pressure to be equal to the surrounding water pressure. Without equalising, or with forceful equalising, the ear drum will continue to flex and eventually perforate or burst! 👂 💥 For this reason, it is so important for scuba divers to equalise early and often, I recommend every breath on descent. DO NOT continue down if you have ear pain. Stop, ascend slightly and try again. Cancel the dive if needed. Keep your ears safe so you can dive for years to come! Do you struggle with equalisation? Well, it's that time of year again! Time to dive into a new lifestyle this year. If you have never tried scuba diving, now is the time. PADI offers an exciting way to "Try before you buy"! It's called Discover Scuba Diving. We set up a date and meet a the pool. I will bring all the equipment required. We do a little "Do's and Don't's" and then we get in the pool and experience life underwater. If this peaks your curiosity, get in touch with me and let's make it happen. Cost you say? Up to four people and the total cost is $100.00. If you are already a certified diver and looking for a refresher before the summer, well, I do that as well. There is nothing you can say about this group of divers. We have been together since their first pool session. To say they are all crazy would be an understatement. I am just so happy they are all crazy about diving! Great job and welcome to the Rescue Diver Club!
