What my newly 51 year old self would tell my 21 year old self…
You think you are an adult, but you are really not. 😂
Listen to your grandparents’ stories. They ARE experienced adults, and one day you will wish you had asked more questions.
Never say never. Life has a funny way of taking you places you never imagined.
You will experience heartbreak. Probably more than once. And you will survive every single time.
Money does not equal wealth. Health is wealth. Take care of your body, it’s the only one you get.
Call your parents. Tell them you love them. And don’t take having them around for granted.
You don’t need a college degree to be successful. There are many paths to a fulfilling life.
Being a parent is NOT easy. Give your parents a little more grace. You will understand someday.
Hard work will always matter. But so will knowing when to slow down and enjoy what you worked so hard for.
Consistency beats perfection. Every. Single. Time.
Take care of your body, but also take care of your mind.
Stop worrying so much about what other people think.
Some friendships will last a lifetime. Others will come and go. Let them. Not everyone is meant to go the whole way with you.
Watching your parents age is one of the hardest parts of getting older. Appreciate them while you can.
You will turn into your parents one day. 😂
True love will find you. And when it does, you will realize it was worth waiting for.
Your kids will grow up. Way faster than you think. So put down the phone, make the memories, take the pictures, and soak it all in.
And finally….
Don’t spend your 20s wishing you were 30, your 30s wishing you were 40, or your 40s wishing you were younger.
Every age has something beautiful to offer.
You are going to blink, and suddenly you’ll be 51, trust me.
So live. Love hard. Take chances. Lift the weights. Eat the cake sometimes. 😂 Laugh until your stomach hurts. Forgive. Let go. And never stop becoming the person you want to be.
Because 51 years fly by and before you know it, the life you were always waiting to start has become the life you are already living.
So make it count.
This is 51.
