Volunteers from Sustainable EHC, joined the ACUA Sept 9, for a recycling audit in the downtown area, 4th through 9th terraces.

Teams of two people canvassed terraces to inspect recycling bins on collection day to educate the public about proper recycling techniques. Volunteers left "Good Job" or "Ooops!" tags on the bins to let people know they should keep plastic bags, non-recyclable materials and garbage out of the recycling bins, and to break down cardboard boxes.

The next audit days are Sept. 16 and Sept. 30. ACUA will compile information collected, hopefully showing the recycling techniques have improved. The last time an audit was conducted in EHNorth by students at CCHS in early spring, showed 100% improvement on breaking down boxes and a 45% increase in proper recycling techniques.

Anyone interested in participating is asked to show up at 7:30 a.m. on either day at Archway Greene park on the 100-block of Philadelphia Ave. to obtain tags, a partner, and an address list.

ACUA, the green team and city officials will be conducting a recycling audit in the downtown area Sept. 2, 16 & 30.

The last time students at CCHS conducted their audit on 3 recycling collection days, residents in the Neighborhoods at Cedar Creek decreased recycling contamination by 43% and there was a 100% increase in the number of cardboard boxes that were broken down.

The audit is designed to educate the public about proper recycling techniques. Look for "Great Job" or "Oops" tags on your bins.

Third time's a charm. After postponing twice due to repairs at City Hall, the green team has rescheduled Preserving the Harvest for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.
