It's true. Even Dr. Mirken, the creator of R.I.C.E said you can stop icing injuries. (And stop full rest)
I don't think ice is as bad as I once thought it was for injuries but I still think it's not necessary for any injury where pain is not improved by it and the freezing of skin has more danger of burns than is worth the benefit.
The worst part of ice is that it takes up valuable movement time!
Want to get better faster?.
Minor injuries just need a bit of rest, movement every 15 minutes a few times without increasing pain much.
Return to normal as soon as you can.
Anything more than minor: reach out to a physical therapist and not your primary doctor. And for sure not an orthopedic surgeon. Only see them for emergencies.

Adding these things to your treatment really don't help and I'm the case of surgery, can make you worse.

Ending the derogatory and going with support instead.
If you need in person care or coaching in San Diego, telehealth in California or coaching anywhere: drop a runner emoji ππΌ

List of placebos:
Physical therapy: ultrasound of all types, dry needling, suction cups, taping, lasers of all types, fixing pelvi, joints or spines, postural changes, corrective exercise, acupuncture or pressure, led therapy, changing your shoes or way you walk to correct an imbalance, craniosacral, etc
Surgery: for a long list see the book: "Surgery: the ultimate placebo" by Ian Harris
Kyphoplasty, meniscus surgery, sub acromial decompression and lumbar fusions for pain. Many many more.
Chiro: all old school cooky cracky craziness.
Or the tooth fairy.
Nope. That stuff is super strong and only your bodies fibroclasts can actually break it down and fibroblasts build it back up to remodel it.
Or a scalpel.
Don't believe those that say this and try to do it.
But Santa is real, don't get me started! π§πΌβπ
If you are in pain and you're being literally tortured by the person trying to help you, they aren't doing anything more than what the comment says: modulating pain without any permanent benefit.
You will probably feel less pain simply because they stopped hurting you.
They didn't change the fascia or the tissue for any good.
They have as more chance of injuring you than they do helping you.
They don't have skilled elbows and hands.
They can't change a tissue under another without first injuring the top layer of skin. (Think eating an orange without peeling it).
If this is the plan, get a new therapist.
Pain begets pain. Period.
It's been quite a while since a run went well for me.
Injuries, anxiety, life crushing stress of running a failing business while trying to stay positive and never sleeping, can kind of ruin your gains.
Well I closed the business, got a lot of help from my family, a therapist (the brain kind), some medicine (the brain kind) and a new job.
I feel better than I have in years. Am stronger than ever. I'm happy and look forward to helping people again.
I can't thank my wife enough and owe her everything. I love you so much and forever. It took a while for me to find me. I was hiding in the lime tree.
To my amazing daughter: you're the best thing ever and you are loved unconditionally.

Exercise can increase resilience, reduce possibility of pain and improve health.
But it can't protect you from an injury or pain if you overdose the exercise, move differently compared to how you usually move (slow vs fast).
We need to stop this kind of thinking.
