What a cool place doing good work!!
BioLink Depot recycles scientific laboratory equipment from industry and donates it to schools for free. ♻️🎓

I finally got around to visiting their educator open house. It’s like a treasure hunt and I got lucky with some nice goodies for my classroom lab. 🥼🧪🔬

This past week at our commission meeting, Rec & Park Commissioner Gomez and I advocated for basketball court lighting, and now Shields Reid Park is fully illuminated! The ball field and basketball court lights are officially on daily at sunset til 10pm! 💡

To my knowledge, Shields Reid is the only park in Richmond with illuminated basketball courts- 2 basketball courts, 1 futsal court, tether ball and three square. 🏀🏓⚽️

This park remodel has brought so much life to our community! From families walking and biking to soccer practice or the pump track, playgrounds, and zip lines, Shields Reid is a place where our community comes together.

This is what investing in our families and youth looks like!

🩸 I donated blood this week thanks to echsrcc!

The American Red Cross holds a special place in my heart. As an undergrad, I worked and volunteered with the Yolo County ARC as a bilingual health & safety instructor, an experience that helped spark my passion for science education.

Giving blood saves lives. ❤️ Donate often if you can!

Government moves slow…but our kids can’t wait.

The Macdonald Mini-Fields Project is moving forward and we’ve got support from Macdonald Ave businesses, local organizations, and the Iron Triangle Neighborhood Council.

Vacant land shouldn’t sit empty while our community needs space to play.

Richmond deserves better, let’s turn vacant into vibrant.

My summer school for the next three weeks!

The Exploratorium Teacher Institute is basically a science teacher nerd fest. Educators from across the country come together to learn new skills, explore hands-on science, and discover tools and strategies to bring back to their classrooms.

I’m excited to find new ways to make science engaging for my students.

Plus an easy ferry ride followed by a bike ride along the Embarcadero is just the cherry on top. 🚲 ⛴️

Happy World Cup Opening Day! ⚽🌎

Watching the Mexico versus South Africa tournament opener at the historic Estadio Azteca….while cleaning my classroom at Richmond High School to close out the school year tomorrow.

I’m remembering my visit to Estadio Azteca in November 2008, where I watched a sold out El Clásico Mexicano. This iconic 87,000-seat stadium has hosted three World Cup opening matches and is home to Mexico’s National Team and Club América. It’s undergone many renovations since my visit and I look forward to seeing Las Azulcremas 🦅 play here some day.
