Camden class — check your email and your texts.

I just sent everybody who took Saturday's concealed carry class a full walkthrough of what happens next: how to apply, how to pay, where to get fingerprinted, and the one deadline that costs people the class if they miss it.

Short version, and this is the part that trips folks up: apply and pay at chcl.ark.org FIRST. That gives you a confirmation number. THEN go get fingerprinted — the shop can't run your prints without it.

Your training certificate is only good for six months. Don't sit on it.

Most concealed carry classes teach you to shoot and hand you a certificate.

We teach the whole fight.

Recognizing the fight — seeing trouble developing before it gets to you. Most of what keeps you safe happens here, long before anybody's hand goes anywhere near a holster.

Avoiding the fight — the best gunfight is the one you never have. Knowing when to leave, and how, is a skill nobody teaches you at the gun counter.

Winning the fight — real defensive handgun work on the range, with NRA certified instructors watching what you're actually doing. First pistol or thirty years carrying, you'll get coaching that fits where you are.

After the fight — Arkansas self-defense and gun law, taught by a licensed attorney. This is the part almost nobody covers, and it's the part that decides what the rest of your life looks like.

That's one Saturday in Camden. You leave with your CHCL training certificate and a whole lot more than a piece of paper.
