Bringing West Texas to the forefront of youth football, and offering athletes the chance to learn an

The district just received the most amazing compliment on our Robert E. Lee High School (Midland, Texas) football players and coaches, and we had to share with you - our parents and our community! Each day we are so proud of our students and faculty, but today is extra special!

The following remarks were sent to us from Major Isaias Martinez, senior army instructor of Estacado High School's Army JROTC.

"I wanted to express our appreciation for your Lee High School Football team and their coaches. Last week, before the Lee and Monterey High School game, my Cadet Command Sergeant Major requested we start our march from the visiting team side. We stood ready alongside Lee Rebels as our Color Guard prepared to present the Colors. The time came, and as usual everyone stood to pay tribute to the Colors. Our Color Guard marched to mid field and presented Colors while our National Anthem was played.

Usually as soon as our National Anthem is over everyone begins to move about before our Honor Guard has a chance to march off the field; last week was different.

As the National Anthem came to an end, we were standing behind your Lee Rebel football team, and we all heard a player yell out, “No body move.” The entire team, including coaches and assistants, stood at attention as our Honor Guard marched off the field and did not move until they saw the Honor Guard lower the Colors on the other side. I am even sure the parents and families supporting the Rebel team also stood still because we could not hear any movement behind us!

It was without a doubt, one of the most touching moments for me, but more importantly, for our Cadets. While it may seem insignificant to many, to Cadets who consider it an honor to present Colors, and to Soldiers and families who have served our nation, your team’s actions exemplify the very spirit of respect for our nation’s Colors and patriotism to our country. The action is a true testament of the leadership and mentorship they are receiving from their coaches, your faculty, and your community."

WOW! Thank you, Midland Lee Rebels for your outstanding leadership on and off the field!

Due to recent events, I feel compelled to assure parents that our coachig staff have gone through numerous heads up football and concussion trainings. Your child's health and well-being are our first priority. We've been coaching many of your sons since the third grade. If it isn't abundantly clear, we're quite fond of the young men. We have some great kids who awe and inspire me on a regular basis. I feel blessed to know them. I am also so very thankful to the parents we have, for your continued support and for you entrusting your son to us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
