8/24/24: Andy has been at Craig Hospital in Colorado for a little over two weeks now and is making some great progress. The staff and facilities here are fantastic! Each day is filled with sessions with his physical and occupational therapists, doctors and other specialists, all with the goal to prepare him for an independent and fulfilling life after discharge. This past week he began his transition from a motorized to a manual wheelchair.
Kevin Wilson, an adaptive ski instructor from Ignite Adaptive Sports was kind enough to stop by to meet Andy, talk with him, and provide some encouragement and insight about life with a spinal cord injury. It was a great visit. Thanks Kevin!
If you would like to send Andy a note, it can be sent to:

If you would like to contribute to the GoFundMe campaign set up by one of Andy's friends, the link is in our bio and is also available through our website.
I also want to send another huge shout out to Ismael, Jeremiah, Ash and Sammy for keeping the gym running in our absence!!!

As mentioned in our previous post, Andy was severely injured in a climbing accident on Wednesday, 7/24. His injuries included a fractured skull and fractured spine with a spinal cord injury plus other minor cuts, scrapes and a broken rib.
The skull fracture was repaired and he'll now set off the airport metal detectors. His brain was bruised but the doctor expects him to fully recover within a year. He's talking and has good memory.
Due to the spine injury, Andy currently has no feeling or movement below the waist. Rods were installed to stabilize the damaged portion of his spine. We continue to hope and pray for healing from this injury.
He was moved from ICU to a regular room on Wednesday, 7/31. We want to thank everyone for the well wishes and especially all those that have stopped by the hospital to encourage Andy. He really brightens up when you stop by!
We are currently awaiting coordination with insurance to move him to a rehab hospital in Colorado that specializes in rehab for brain and spinal cord injuries.
I want to give a huge shout out to The Cave's employees who have stepped up to make sure the gym continues to operate smoothly. We had a fantastic kids' camp this week. We'll get some pics and videos posted soon. Thank you Ash, Zane, Ismael and Ray!!! Also a big thanks to Alyse (one of the youth climbing team moms) for your help with the camp!
The climbing walls are fully populated with routes of all difficulties but with an emphasis on easier routes left over from the camps. New routes will be going up soon.
Your continued patronage, thoughts, words of encouragement, good vibes and prayers are all greatly appreciated during this difficult time. We'll provide updates as time permits.
~Cliff
