The International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region 2 and coordinators across neighboring countries are currently on standby to assist. If you are operating in the Americas or anywhere else globally, please protect 7135 kHz so critical emergency traffic can get through seamlessly.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Detention Officer Hilda Guadalupe Castro, who dedicated 23 years of faithful service to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Throughout her career, Officer Castro served with professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community. Her impact extended far beyond the walls of our detention facilities, touching the lives of countless coworkers, friends, and those she encountered throughout her service.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Officer Castro passed away on June 21, 2026. Her strength, resilience, and kindness will never be forgotten.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Officer Castro. Your service, dedication, and legacy will forever remain a part of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office family. 💙
