Elizabethtown Independent Schools mourns the passing of Panther legend Demond Thomas, who passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 52.

A member of both the Elizabethtown High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Campbellsville University Athletic Hall of Fame, Demond was one of the most accomplished student-athletes in EHS history.

As a senior, Demond was named an All-State baseball player, co-Mr. Baseball and the Associated Press Athlete of the Year in Kentucky. Just days after graduating, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Visitation is after 5 p.m., Thursday July 30, 2026, at the church.

Homegoing services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Elizabethtown with Rev. Shayne Stockton officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
