Hello Everyone,

We are heartbroken to announce that Grand Master C. I. Kim has passed away. Grand Master Kim died peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2023. As you all know, Grand Master was a monumental influence on everything we do at the school. Grand Master Kim’s influence on SBN Patrick Kennedy and others goes far beyond the martial arts. SBN Patrick Kennedy has stated that Grand Master Kim helped to shape him into a better person. We will do our best to honor and continue his legacy. We are organizing a special memorial in Grand Master Kim’s honor and will share more details soon.

In the meantime, please feel free to share any favorite memories and photos of Grand Master. We look forward to celebrating his life and martial arts accomplishments.

Thank you,
The Kennedy Family

On Bushido (Japanese) or Moo Sa Do (Korean)...

War becomes possible, only if the adversary has a reasonably good chance for victory. Only a fool may stir up a conflict with no chance of success. That is why Bushido says: exercise, always be prepared for war, improve and you will not have war.

Quote for the week....

The true science of martial arts means practicing them in such a way that they will be useful at any time, and to teach them in such a way that they will be useful in all things.

The character 武 = Wu in Chinese, Bu in Japanese, and Moo in Korean is made up of two characters. The first character 止 (lower left section) meaning stop. The second character 弋 (upper and right section) meaning sword or spear. Loosely translated it means to stop conflict between people and even stop internal conflict within ourselves. Essentially finding peace through the study of violence.

I wanted to let all of you know that I am very proud of you. It takes a lot of courage to compete. So you get props for doing that. Everyone did well in their competitive events. And I'm extremely proud of all of you that assisted with judging, refereeing, and time keeping! Many thanks to the parents, families, and students for supporting our competitors!
