After the game, Al gave a regal wave of his hand and announced, ‘I own Cousy.’ Now, newspapers always are silly enough to attach importance to a statement like this. When Al saw his words in the headlines the next day, he shrugged and decided that it was true. In the next few games against the Celtics, he almost carried the thing off. So much so, that when Cousy had one of his typical nights, scoring 55 points or so against the Knickerbockers, the New York sports writers wrote that it was an accident.”
