We’re excited to host my friend and colleague, Dr. Taylor Premer, at Midwest Movement this November for Game-Time Decisions: Modern Management of Acute Athletic Injuries.

Taylor has spent years working on the sidelines and in training rooms with high school and college athletes, making the exact decisions this course is built around. Return to play or shut it down? Image or wait and watch? Push the tissue or protect it?

This is a 2-day, hands-on course built for healthcare practitioners who want a better system for assessing acute injuries and making confident decisions in the clinic, training room, or on the sideline. It’ll cover everything from systematic assessment and imaging decisions to return-to-play criteria, concussion, and hands-on management of common athletic injuries.

We’re pumped to open up our space for Taylor to teach and to bring a group of clinicians together who want to get better at what they do.

Orthotics are not always the answer.

In fact they rarely are.

They are just “kicking the can down the road” until you need a new pair, a thicker shoe, get another pain up the chain or maybe even surgery.

Here’s how to stop blaming your “weak core” for your low back pain.

Your MRI is not a crystal ball.

We see it all the time. Someone comes in gripping a radiology report like it's a diagnosis of doom, and half the time the findings on that scan show up in plenty of pain free people too. 31% of pain free knees have a meniscus tear. Nearly a quarter of pain free shoulders have a full rotator cuff tear. Two people can have the exact same disc herniation and one of them is sleeping fine while the other can't get off the couch.

The image tells us what's there. It doesn't tell us why you hurt or what's going to fix it.

That's why we don't start with the scan. We start with an assessment. Movement, strength, breathing, nerve sensitivity, coordination, the stuff that's actually driving your pain day to day.

Treatment should match what we find in your body, not just what's on a piece of paper.
