🎥🧗‍♂️ Paradise Valley is full of surprises… 🌄

Just outside Winnemucca, Nevada, you’ll find some incredibly fun climbing routes, amazing views, and one of the coolest route finishes we’ve ever seen. 🤯

At the top of one climb, there’s a hidden cave with a hammock and a notebook, a perfect spot to relax, watch the sunset, and take in the beauty of the Nevada desert. Some adventurous souls have even spent the night up there under the stars. 🌅✨

If you visit, please remember: respect the area, the cave, the hammock, and the notebook. Leave it better than you found it so future climbers can enjoy the same experience. 🙏

Have you climbed in Paradise Valley before? What was your favorite route? Let us know below! 👇🐐

📸 More moments from our last climbing day in Paradise Valley! 🧗‍♂️🌄

Still thinking about this session — great routes, big exposure on those multi-pitches, and an even better crew 🙌🐐

We’re sharing a few more photos because honestly… this is what it’s all about: getting outside, pushing ourselves, and meeting awesome people along the way.

👉 Now we want to hear from YOU:
• Would you be down for a multi-pitch day like this?
• What kind of climbing are you most interested in right now (bouldering, sport, trad, ice)?
• Where should we go next?

And don’t forget — if you’re planning to climb, post it here! That’s how we keep growing, meeting new partners, and building this community together 💪

Let’s keep it going, Ruby Goats 🐐

🧗‍♂️ Climbing season is ON! 🌄

We had an awesome day out in Paradise Valley (near Winnemucca) getting on some multi-pitch routes — great rock, big views, and that feeling of going higher with every pitch 🙌

What made it even better is seeing how the Ruby Goats community keeps growing. More people joining, connecting, and getting out to climb together — that’s exactly what this is all about 🐐💪

This is just the beginning of the season, and there’s so much more to explore around Elko and beyond.

👉 If you’re heading out to climb, post it here! Let’s keep building this community and getting more people on the rock.

🧊 An incredible (and probably the only) ice climbing day of the season in Lamoille! 🏔️

This winter hasn’t been great for ice, but we managed to catch a short window where the waterfalls actually formed. It turned out to be an amazing day in Lamoille Canyon — beautiful ice, incredible views of the Rubies, and great company.

One of our friends joined us for the adventure and had a blast experiencing ice climbing out here. Moments like this remind us how special these mountains are, even when the season doesn’t cooperate.

Sharing a few photos from the day — the ice, the canyon, and the views that make every climb worth it. 📸

Hopefully next winter brings more cold and a longer ice season, but for now we’re grateful we got at least one solid day out there! 🐐

🧊 Last Ice of the Season in Lamoille? 🏔️

I went up to Lamoille Canyon recently and found a few ice waterfalls still hanging in there. With the warm winter we’ve had, they’re probably some of the last climbable ice of the season, and it’s hard to say how much longer they’ll last.

I’m sharing a few photos here so you can see the conditions. If anyone has been wanting to try ice climbing, this could be a great chance to get a taste of it before the ice disappears.

👉 I’m thinking about heading out next weekend (March 13 or 14) to practice on one of these lines.
I have most of the technical gear, so if someone wants to join, you’d mainly need your personal gear:
• Mountaineering boots
• Crampons
• Harness

If you’re interested, comment below or send a message. And if you’ve been up in the canyon recently and seen other ice forming, let us know!

Let’s take advantage of what’s left of the season 🐐🧗‍♂️❄️

🧊 Not the winter we were hoping for… ❄️

This season has been unusually warm, and the lack of snow and sustained cold temperatures is really showing. Many of the ice lines we’d normally expect to form in Lamoille Canyon just aren’t there — thin, broken ice or waterfalls that never fully froze (like the one in the photo). Not ideal, and definitely not safe for ice climbing this year.

That said, the mountains are still giving us reasons to get out there 🌄. With less snow, snowshoeing, hiking, and exploring have been great alternatives, and it’s still amazing to spend time in the Rubies even if conditions aren’t perfect.

Ice climbing seasons change — and we’ll be ready when winter really shows up again. Until then, let’s adapt, stay safe, and keep enjoying the mountains in different ways 🐐

🧗‍♀️ Weekend climb at 5th Street Crag (Cowboy Rock)! 🪨

This spot is probably the closest climbing area to Elko — and honestly, it’s perfect for these warmer winter days ☀️. The rock here is conglomerate, full of two-finger pockets… but watch out, some of them are pretty sharp! 😅

We had an awesome session and even met up with a new friend from the group who reached out to climb together — that’s exactly what this community is all about! 🙌

👉 Remember: if you’re heading out to climb, post it here in the group!
You never know who else might want to join — and that’s how we keep building Ruby Goats 🐐💪
