In late summer, however, the water temperatures of many rivers and streams become too warm to safely and ethically keep catching trout, particularly in the afternoon when water temps are at their highest. Fortunately, smallmouth bass and especially carp thrive in these warmer waters. Instead of just sacrificing fishing time until fall, anglers can actually find some of the most enjoyable fly fishing of the entire year by chasing these often overlooked fish in lakes and rivers.
