2026–27 registration is open for KC Wildcats Basketball Club.

We're building rosters now for grades 1–8 across the Kittitas Valley. If your athlete is ready to compete this winter, get them signed up. If you know a family who's been looking for a program, pass it along.

We're also looking for coaches. You don't need an extensive background in basketball — what matters is a commitment to the kids, a willingness to grow, and a desire to keep getting better. We believe the development happening on the court goes both ways. These kids will make you a better coach if you let them.

This 6th grade team, going into 7th, continues to show what can happen when players buy in, teammates play for each other, and coaches pour everything they have into helping kids grow.

The Greener Grass Epidemic 05/28/2026

This one hit close to home. If you've been around club sports long enough, you've seen it — the family that chases every shiny new logo. Sometimes leaving is right. But sometimes the best thing a kid can find isn't a new team. It's a place worth staying. 🏀
Great read for any club family heading into tryout season.

The Greener Grass Epidemic Why it's happening. Why it needs to end.

More Than a Team

Yesterday, I was at a track meet and ran into one of our KC Wildcats families. We caught up for a few minutes, and then she said something that stuck with me.

Her daughter — who doesn’t run in the same school circles as a lot of kids in the valley — told her that whenever she finds out another girl plays for the Wildcats, she feels an instant connection. Not because they’re teammates. Not because they’re the same age. Just because they’ve both been part of the same club and gone through something similar together.

That’s exactly what this club was built to do.

KC Wildcats has always been about bringing kids together from different schools — public, private, Christian, homeschool — putting them on the same court, and letting the work create the bond.

And somewhere along the way, something stays with them.

Running a club like this is hard. Opinions differ. Teams change. Some seasons feel more like managing chaos than building something meaningful. You keep showing up because you believe in the work, even when it’s hard to tell what’s actually lasting.

That comment yesterday stuck with me.

We didn’t set out to create some perfect identity or culture. We just wanted to give kids an opportunity to play, compete, and grow together.

Somewhere along the way, it became more than that.
