Howard Lions Cycling Club The Cycling Club promotes youth mountain biking with an emphasis on safety, stewardship and most importantly fun.

Maryland and Howard County are home to some of the best trail networks in the country and our club enjoys utilizing this wonderful resource. The Cycling Club seeks to increase the number of students who ride bicycles and work within the boundaries of NICA MD to participate in safe, quality mountain bike events that focus on equality and inclusivity. We embrace NICA’s goal of developing strong minds, bodies, character and communities through cycling. NICA-sanctioned races provide student-athletes an arena in which to set and accomplish competitive goals and to achieve their personal best. All students and skill levels are welcome to learn about take part in the lifelong adventure of mountain biking. We are guided the NICA core values; FUN, RESPECT, INCLUSIVITY, EQUITY, and COMMUNITY.

Rosaryville tested us today, but the Howard Lions were ready. 🦁🚵‍♂️

With storm clouds looming, our riders showed up focused and determined. Mother Nature cooperated just enough, and our team delivered outstanding performances across the board. Congratulations to Neil on completing his first-ever race!

Most inspiring of all was seeing these athletes continue to cheer, support, and encourage one another through every lap and every pedal stroke. That's what makes this team special.

Maryland Finals are just a few weeks away, and while it's hard to believe the season is almost over, we're excited to see what this incredible group accomplishes next.

Tomorrow, the Howard Lions head to Rosaryville in Upper Marlboro for our next race of the season!

This team has put in countless hours of hard work, determination, and preparation, and they're excited to embrace the challenge that awaits on the trails. With only two races remaining on the schedule, the Lions are ready to give it everything they've got and finish the season strong.

Let's wish our riders the best of luck as they look to make their final push and leave it all on the course!

🚴💨 One last tune-up before race day!

Tonight, the Howard Lions hit the trails for our final practice before Saturday's race. It was a relaxed-paced ride, with a few extra regroup stops, a couple of spirited sprints, and plenty of good vibes as the team sharpened up while staying fresh for race day. We even had some wild Tacocats sightings!

Before practice, we celebrated 🎉 John's birthday with a team rendition of Happy Birthday. Even better, John treated everyone to brownies after practice. Thanks, John, and happy birthday!

We also had the honor of presenting the 🦁💙 Howard Heart Helmet to Neil. Although schedule conflicts have kept him from regularly practicing with the team, he's been putting in the work on his own and remains committed to the team. His dedication and perseverance have him ready to roll up to the starting line this Saturday, and we're proud to recognize his effort.

Now it's time to rest, recover, and get ready to race. Good luck to all our Lions this weekend. Let's have fun, support each other, and leave it all out on the course! 🚵‍♂️💙🤍

🏠🦁💙 What a Homecoming Weekend for Howard Lions Cycling! 💙🦁🏠

This weekend was about so much more than bikes. It was about giving back, building community, creating memories, and strengthening friendships.

From working the concession stands under the Friday night lights at the big game, to proudly representing our club in the Homecoming Parade, our Lions showed what it means to be part of something bigger than ourselves. And for some riders, the weekend even included celebrating at the Homecoming Dance!

The adventures didn't stop there. Coach Sadiq took his sons Zakir and Aydin to Deep Creek for the Adventure Ride, adding another incredible experience to an already unforgettable weekend.

Whether serving our community, cheering on the Lions, riding with teammates, or making memories with friends, this weekend reminded us why Howard Lions Cycling is so special.

Here's to teamwork, service, friendship, and the pride of being a Lion. 🦁🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️💙

💙 More Than a Team. A Community. 🦁🚴

The first half of Day 2 of Homecoming Weekend reminds us just how incredible our Howard Lions family is.

This morning, teammates spread out across the county and beyond. Some proudly represented the club in the Howard High School Homecoming Parade, while others participated in cross-country meets, Scouts activities, and even tackled the trails at Deep Creek.

Tonight, many of our riders will reunite at the Homecoming Dance to celebrate school spirit and make more memories together. For our senior Roman, it marks his final Homecoming Dance, another reminder to cherish these moments while they last.

We're proud of every athlete who continues to represent the values of teamwork, commitment, and community wherever they go.

We want to share a fantastic article about one of the fellow teams in the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League and really what this league is all about. To sum it up as Coach Aaron from the Garrett County Coyotes MTB Team is quoted as saying, "We want to help them (kids) to become the best version of themselves, not necessarily the best biker."

💙🦁 COMMUNITY. SERVICE. PRIDE. 🦁💙

The Howard Lions Cycling Team was out in full force tonight, giving back to our amazing Howard community by working the concession stand during the Homecoming football game!

With fans lining up all night long, our riders kept the food moving, the smiles flowing, and the energy high. It was a busy night, but this team handled it like they handle everything else... together, with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Congratulations to the Howard Lions Varsity Football Team on an incredible 28-0 victory! 🏈🔥

This is what makes our team special. We don't just ride bikes. We show up, serve, support, and strengthen the community that supports us.

Tonight wasn't about the miles. It was about the effort.

With a little rain earlier in the day and possible weather looming, the Howard Lions showed up ready to work. The team focused on quality over quantity, attacking intervals, ripping through hot laps, dialing in race starts, and finishing strong with hill repeats.

Every rider came hungry to improve and left wanting more.

To cap off a great night, Nakhila presented the Howard Heart Helmet to Will in recognition of his grit, determination, and outstanding effort throughout practice. A well-deserved honor and a reminder of what makes this team special.

Great work tonight, Lions. Keep showing up. Keep pushing. Keep growing. 🦁🚴💙
