Throwing it back more than a few decades to the days of the Tannenbaum T-Bar and the early years of Holiday Valley.

Long before today’s high-speed lifts and modern snowmaking, days on the slopes looked a little different but the love of winter in Ellicottville was already going strong.

For generations, Holiday Valley has been a place to learn to ski, spend winter days with family and friends, and make memories that somehow get better with age.

Who remembers riding the Tannenbaum T-Bar? We’d love to hear your stories! And bonus points if you remember what year you first skied Holiday Valley.

The Holiday Valley family is very sad to learn that yesterday, September 1, our former Snowsports Director, Ron Kubicki passed away. Ron spent decades at Holiday Valley, sharing his love of skiing with a countless number of people.

Whether he was out on the slopes teaching people to love sliding on snow, managing his team of snowsports professionals, or just lending a hand to other departments so that he could help make the day go more smoothly, Ron's presence was always appreciated. He was an outdoorsman through and through who loved walking through the woods at the resort just as much as he loved carving down the slopes in the winter. It is safe to say that impact that he had at Holiday Valley is impossible to put into words and he will be missed. Our hearts go out to Ron's family and his friends, who will no doubt mourn his passing but will absolutely celebrate and cherish the memories they have of him!
