Kids class tonight looked like an Amazonian takeover.
Six girls. Two boys.
The ratio was so lopsided the mats started whispering, “Is this… is this a coup?”
The girls walked in like: “Hi! We’re here to overthrow the patriarchy and also practice our breakfalls.”
The boys walked in like: “…should we stretch extra today?”
By the end, the girls were running the place like a tiny, glitter‑covered fight club. Empowering doesn’t even cover it — it was feral Disney princess energy.
Then adult class said “hold my water bottle” because Professor Scott materialized like a Final Boss NPC.
One second we’re drilling normally, the next second he’s behind you adjusting your elbow angle by 3 degrees and suddenly your entire understanding of jiu‑jitsu collapses like a folding chair at a family reunion.
Everyone left with new skills and mild identity confusion.
Another chaotic, empowering, Ridge‑flavored night on the mats.
Girls dominated. Adults leveled up.
And somewhere in the distance, a lone boy from kids class whispered, “I did not sign up for this smoke.”
Great classes and good times at The Ridge BJJ !

🇺🇸 The Ridge BJJ 's 1st ever BJJ inspired Mat Murph — From the heart. 🇺🇸
Some days on the mat are about technique.
Some are about growth.
Today was about honor.
The Murph Challenge has always stood for something bigger than a workout — it’s a way to carry, even for a moment, the weight that others carried for us. A way to say we remember through sweat, effort, and choosing the harder path on purpose. Our Ridge Mat Murph took that spirit and brought it to the mats.
It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t meant to be.
Round after round of movement that burned, pushed, humbled, and demanded heart.
And every person who stepped onto that mat answered that demand with everything they had.
As a coach, watching y'all dig deep today — watching you choose discomfort, choose effort, choose purpose — it hit me in a way I won’t forget. You honored the fallen with your work. You honored each other with your presence. You honored this community with your grit.I’m proud of you. Truly.
Today wasn’t just a workout.
It was remembrance in motion.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day at The Ridge
No regular classes on Monday — but we are throwing down our own Mat Murph Challenge.
We’ll honor the day the Ridge way: with sweat, grit, and a BJJ‑flavored version of the classic Murph. All ages and experience levels welcome. Come ready to move, breathe, and push yourself.
Mat Murph Start Time: 9:00 AM
What to expect: hip escapes, technical lifts, grip work, and a whole lot of heart.
If you’ve never done a Murph before, don’t worry—we’ll have scaled options so everyone can participate.
Let’s show up, work hard, and honor those who served.

🔥 PACKED CLASS ENERGY REPORT 🔥
Short version: Y’all trained so hard today we basically created our own micro‑climate 🌡️🔥
Long version (aka the truth):
The kids class came in bouncing off the walls like caffeinated kangaroos 🦘⚡️, the adults rolled like they were fighting for the last parking spot 🛒💥 at Wal-Mart, and together we raised the gym temperature by a full 8 degrees 🌡️⬆️.
Scientists call it “heat transfer” 🧪🔥.
We call it Monday at The Ridge 💪😎.
Proud of everyone who showed up and turned the gym into a convection oven of jiu-jitsu 🤙🏻 joy 😊.

We’re not saying we’re dangerous… but the floor tapped out twice! 💪🏻😎🤙🏻

Do not under any circumstances try to use jiu jitsu on the bull if you should come upon it on your way to the gym today!

Tried to use jiu jitsu on a bear today.
☠️10/10 do not recommend.
🧸Bear passed my guard, took my lunch money, and now teaches Tuesdays at 6.
💥Don't try this at home.
