🚨 HEALTHCARE WORKERS ARE BEING ASSAULTED EVERY DAY. 🚨

And too often, they are expected to rely on someone else to protect them.

This week, reports emerged that two healthcare workers were shot inside a hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. While the investigation continues, the incident serves as another reminder of a reality healthcare professionals face every day:

🔴 Violence can occur anywhere.

🔴 Violence can occur without warning.

🔴 Help may not arrive immediately.

Healthcare workers dedicate their lives to protecting others. They receive extensive training in patient care, emergency medicine, and life-saving procedures.

But how much training do they receive on protecting themselves?

Many healthcare organizations rely primarily on security personnel, law enforcement, policies, panic buttons, and de-escalation techniques. While those layers of protection are important, they all share one common limitation:

They may not be with you when violence begins.

When seconds matter, healthcare workers are often forced to make critical decisions before security or law enforcement can intervene.

At Pugh Self-Protection & Combatives, we believe the people who protect us deserve the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills necessary to improve their own safety during acts of violence.

We offer a variety of training options, including:

✅ Workplace Violence Prevention & Response Training

✅ Active Shooter ResponseAbility Training (ASRT)

✅ Situational Alertness Training & Education

✅ Limiting escalation & Conflict Management

✅ Personal Safety & Self-Protection Skills

✅ Customized Healthcare Violence Response Programs

✅ Emergency Preparedness & Resiliency Training

Our goal is not to create fear.

Our goal is to empower healthcare professionals to become active participants in their own safety and survival when confronted with violence.

Because relying on others to protect you may not always be enough.

Protect those who protect us.

Very substantial ruling & a unanimous one at that!

The Supreme Court just delivered a massive win for the 2nd Amendment and Cannabis advocates. In a unanimous decision in U.S. v. Hemani, the Court ruled that the federal government cannot automatically strip a person of their gun rights just because they use ma*****na a few times a week. Instead, the government has to prove that someone is actually dangerous, not just slap a label on them and call it a day.

For years, gun owners have warned that vague, “status‑based” bans are a slippery slope: if Washington can declare one disfavored group “too dangerous” for rights with no real proof, it can do the same to you next. The Court rejected that logic. Justice Gorsuch’s opinion makes it clear: the government does not get a blank check to brand millions of otherwise peaceable Americans as “violent and dangerous” simply because they use a substance that the same government is busy reclassifying and normalizing.

What this ruling does not do is create a free‑for‑all. It does not protect felons, dangerous drug addicts, or people who are actually impaired and posing a threat. It does not touch long‑standing bans on violent criminals or those adjudicated as dangerous. What it does say is that the government must tie gun bans to real evidence of dangerousness, not political convenience or outdated stigma. That’s a huge reinforcement of the Second Amendment framework the Court announced in 2022: if a gun law can’t be squared with our historical tradition and a real safety justification, it’s on shaky ground.

If you’re a sober, responsible adult who chooses to own a firearm, the government shouldn’t be able to turn you into a felon overnight based on a checkbox and a stereotype. This ruling doesn’t end the fight over “prohibited person” laws, but it does send a strong message: the Second Amendment cannot be “swallowed” by broad, lazy categorizations of entire groups as dangerous.

What is your response-ability when it comes to your & your loved one’s safety?

Not just your responsibility…
Your response-ability.

Your ability to stay calm.
Your ability to think under stress.
Your ability to act when seconds matter.

Emergencies don’t wait for permission, perfect timing, or professional responders to arrive.

The question is:
Have you prepared yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally to protect the people who matter most?

Being “response-able” means:
✔️ Having a plan
✔️ Practicing skills
✔️ Staying alert
✔️ Refusing to freeze when action is needed

You may not control the threat…
But you can control your readiness.

Be prepared. Be capable. Be the reason your loved ones make it home safe.

Feds reveal details of alleged plot to attack White House UFC event with explosive drones 06/16/2026

For years, we have said that a determined attacker can exploit predictable human behavior.

The more predictable the response, the easier it becomes to manipulate.

Recent reports of an alleged terror plot involving drones, crowd movement, and follow-on attacks should serve as a reminder that emergencies are often far more complex than a single threat or a single location.

This is one of the reasons our Active Shooter Response Training (ASRT) focuses on simplicity.

We do not teach people a long menu of options.

We teach them to answer one question:

❓ Is the threat in your immediate area?

🔴 If YES → Ch.A.D.™ (Charge & Attack, while Distracting if possible)

🟢 If NO → S.O.S.™ (Seek a safe area, remain Out-of-sight, within reach, and Strategically attack threats if necessary)

That's it.

When seconds count, people do not need more options.

They need a simple decision-making process and the confidence that comes from physically practicing the skills beforehand.

Most organizations already give people permission to protect themselves during an act of violence.

Very few allow them to actually practice how.

Permission without preparation is not a plan.

The question is not whether your organization has a policy.

The question is whether your people have the training to execute it when it matters most.

Be an active participant in your own survival.

PERMISSION IS NOT PREPARATION.

Most organizations give their people permission to protect themselves during acts of violence.

But very few give them the opportunity to physically practice how to do it.

Think about that for a moment.

That's like telling someone they can play a sport without ever letting them practice before the game.

How good will they really be when it matters?

Yet this is exactly how many organizations approach active shooter and workplace violence preparedness.

Employees are told:
✅ You can defend yourself.
✅ You can protect others.
✅ You can make life-saving decisions.

But they are rarely given the chance to develop those skills through realistic, hands-on training.

Confidence doesn't come from policies.

Confidence doesn't come from PowerPoint presentations.

Confidence comes from practice.

At Pugh Self-Protection & Combatives, our Active Shooter Response Training (ASRT) gives participants the opportunity to physically apply survival concepts in realistic, controlled scenarios. We help people move beyond theory and develop the confidence, decision-making, and skills needed to respond under pressure.

Because when the game starts, it's too late to begin practicing.

Train. Prepare. Protect.

WOW. Just WOW. 👀

This is why we do what we do.

After yesterday's Level I Maximizing Survival During an Active Shooter Incident training at New Life Church in Elmira, one participant sent us the message shown below.

For years, she carried anxiety after experiencing a real school violence incident as a student. Thankfully, no one was physically harmed, but the emotional impact remained with her for years.

One sentence stood out:

🔴 "I've not felt prepared to handle a situation like that since. UNTIL TODAY." 🔴

That is our mission.

Not to create fear.

Not to convince people they are helpless.

Not to tell people to simply hope for the best.

Our mission is to provide realistic, practical training that empowers ordinary people to make educated decisions during extraordinary circumstances.

When people leave our training, we want them to feel:

✅ More capable
✅ More confident
✅ More prepared
✅ Less fearful

Knowledge reduces uncertainty.

Training builds confidence.

Confidence replaces fear.

Thank you to everyone at New Life Church for your participation, your questions, and your willingness to learn.

This testimonial is a reminder that preparedness is about more than physical survival—it is also about restoring peace of mind.

Be an active participant in your own survival.
