We will have a real sailplane (assembled inside the building!), a flight simulator, and wind tunnel, and airplane-making activities for this event! Kids and adults will be able to sit in the cockpit and learn about the controls and instruments. You can also fly a glider flight simulator over Ithaca! See you there this Saturday and Sunday!

The much loved Schweizer SGS 1-26.

In October 1963 a special issue of Soaring magazine was dedicated to the 1-26. Harner Selvidge wrote:

"Much of the glamour of soaring lies in the realm of high performance, high aspect ratio open class sailplanes, but the backbone of the soaring movement in this country, and any other, lies in the local club operations. These are the weekend fliers who have fun around the airport, make some cross-country flights and enter local contests. For this sort of flying, the 1-26 is unexcelled."

On Sept 27th several Harris Hill juniors and their advisor set up a glider display at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center during The Girls in Aviation Day. Throughout the day attendees could sit in the glider and ask questions about soaring. Thankyou to those who put this together and attended.

He’s done it again! HHSC member David McMaster set a new NY state record for the Sports Class 300km speed triangle at 51 mph! Formerly held by his grandfather Roy McMaster since 1996 at 47.1 mph. Congrats David!
