The August race was a great success!! We want to thank everyone who came out and participated. Thank you to our sponsors - American Producers Supply/C-N Construction Supplies, Northwood Door, D & D Excavating, Print LLC and Done Weighting. Thank you volunteers - we absolutely could not do it without you all!! Special thanks to our friends John, Samantha and Raina Yerg for manning the finish line and for building the new finish line!! Thanks to our DJ and EMT on hand. Pictures were done by our photographer Zach Slone and will be available soon. Our next run is October 17th - our Night of the Dead run. Registration is open. Come out for some spooky fun!

Meet your owner/host of Black Swamp Runner. Michael Lindhorst, age 25,purchased the course from Phoenix last year. Phoenix purchased it from original owners, builders, heart and soul - Troy and Sandy Anthony. Michael ran every race held since 2015 and fell in love with the sport. Troy and Sandy have been very supportive.
Michael is a 2019 graduate of Woodmore HS, a 2023 graduate of Bluffton University and a 2025 masters in mathematics graduate of BGSU. He will be a math professor at Ohio State’s Lima campus beginning Monday! We are super proud of him and can’t wait to see him succeed. We appreciate everyone who has signed up, ran an event, sponsored and helped in any way. He could not do this without your support, especially family and friends!

We are officially 6 days away from our Summer Fun Mud Run at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds! As we get closer, we wanted to share an update regarding our newest obstacle: the Army Crawl. We originally built this obstacle prior to the June race using some type of cargo netting that we already had here at the course. After using that, we realized it came with a subpar result. Because of that, we have updated the structure of this obstacle with heavier reinforcement, and we have replaced the cargo type netting with a wire fence. We hope this will provide a better feel to this obstacle, and it is completed in plenty of time before this coming weekend! The additional good news is that the swamp is nice and muddy following the amount of rain we have received in recent days! We look forward to seeing how this version of the Army Crawl performs during the race!

We'd like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has been supporting us throughout the last year or so! Black Swamp Runner is back in action, and we are currently on the upward climb! I hope we can keep it that way; long live the Black Swamp!

Our "Low Rig" obstacles received a little upgrade with a new paint job! It was looking a little rough before hand, but now it can shine like new! That is if you don't judge my artistic ability! One of my favorite aspects about this course is that we give a handmade and local feel to our obstacles. Just like the Wapred Wall, I personally hand-paint all of the designs throughout the course with a brush, and I'm happy to present that feel to the community! We'll keep pushing on, and we hope you do too as our August race gets closer! Come hang out and get muddy on August 22nd, 2026!!!

We've got 24 days until the Summer Fun Mud Run that is happening on August 22nd, 2026! In addition, we have 81 days until we turn spooky for the Night of the Dead Mud Run! We will be very happy to host you all for both of these runs to cap off the 2026 year!

We are very excited to be able to host 3 total races in the 2026 calendar year, and the next opportunity is on August 22nd! This run will be the "Summer Fun Mud Run." This event will of course have the traditional mud run, but with the theme resembling more of a family event filled with fun and excitement! To be clear, the August run will not be a formally timed event, and there won't be any competitive awards for top finishers. We will, however, still be holding some raffles, giveaways, and other smaller activities for folks to participate in either before or after the run! We will be posting more about the August 22nd run as we approach it! Long live Black Swamp Runner!

We would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who participated in the Black Swamp Dash this past weekend on June 20th, 2026! The Dash was the second race that I have ever hosted, and the first resulting in awards for top finishers in respective age groups/genders. It is an exciting time for Black Swamp Runner as I learn what needs to be done, as well as how I can make everything better for everyone involved. I look forward to continuing to build the course, culture, and community around Black Swamp Runner!

I am happy to announce the top three finishers for men and women in their respective age groups. I appreciate the patience from everyone, and I know we will all have a blast in August! For the record, if a winner of an award or raffle has not received their prize, they will be contacted soon via phone number to arrange some type of delivery! Thank you all again, and long live Black Swamp Runner!
