‼️ Important Updated ‼️

While the fire perimeter did not impact the Ward Mountain Trail System, there were suppression efforts within the lower Iceplant trail area and there is on-going suppression rehabilitation efforts with heavy equipment. While this area is not marked for closure on the map, the Forest Service requests you to avoid the x-gate/lower Iceplant trails until further notice. This is for your safety while there is heavy equipment in the area!

The Ward Mountain Trails were not impacted by the recent Ward Fire! The Forest Service has reduce the size of the fire closure area and the hiking/mountain bike trails are now open for public use!

🚨 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Ward Fire 🚨

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest roads and trails on the Ely Ranger District in the Ward Mtn Area impacted by the Ward Fire are now CLOSED to public access while crews continue to fight the Ward Fire, burning approximately nine miles south of Ely.

This closure is in effect to protect the safety of the public and our firefighters working around the clock on the fire lines. Please stay out of the closure area, including all forest roads and trails in the Described Area, to allow crews to operate safely and effectively.

📍 As of today, the Ward Fire has burned approximately 8,164 acres and is 0% contained. Nearly 300 personnel are assigned to the incident.

🚫 Please respect all Road Closed signs located in the Ward Mtn area.
