Holy sh|t! After 14 months of hell, I’m done with my Stage 4 prostate cancer treatments 10 months early!

Let me tell you what that means. These treatments robbed my body of every drop of testosterone. So as that builds back, I can look forward to NO night sweats and hot flashes, NO debilitating muscle loss and weakness, NO exhaustion 24/7, NO extreme flashes of emotion, NO endless fights over insurance coverage.

I’m overcome with joy and positivity! 🙏🙌🎉💫

Many of you who knew me don’t know me or won’t really see me anymore.

With the Stage 4 cancer (I kicked its ass), and becoming a Reiki healing practitioner, I am on a spiritual ascension path now, and have cast off all previous versions of myself. They no longer serve me. 🙏

I’m not going to get too woowoo for y’all. I AM announcing here and now some boundaries.

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, I WILL BLOCK YOU IF:

Fun when doing a Burntside laker workshop on the ice and four fish come through in that hour. Client’s first ever lake trout dinner coming up! 💚💚☘️☘️

My cancer prognosis is good, and I’m regaining my strength. I’m going to stay retired from guiding, but I’m again offering Burntside lake trout workshops for $120.

These last about an hour, and can be done out on the ice or over the phone. I’ve done a lot in both settings.

I cover gear, techniques, prime locations and more. Feel free to tap into 15,000 hours on Burntside over 20 years. Burntside is a steep learning curve without help, and we can take the time to flatten that sucker out. 💪💪

Given my cancer treatment progress and prognosis, it’s very likely I’ll get out a few times this winter for lake trout. But man, sitting here looking at my gear and knowing that I won’t be out on first ice for trophy pike is kinda killing me. ❤️‍🩹🤕

There’s no nice way to say this, so I’ll just say it.

I have Stage 4 prostate cancer. It has spread to the spine and pelvis. I also now have a heart murmur, which will require heart valve replacement surgery if I kick cancer’s ass hard enough to force remission.

My friends, I have received a local job offer that I can’t refuse. So I didn’t. 👍

That means mothballing the guide service after more than 15 years. This is a good move for several reasons, and comes at the right time.

I have met and gotten to know so many wonderful humans, both in the fishing industry and among clients, that I feel rich. Thank you all for making it a great ride. I got the offer from a friend and laker client while we were out catching trout last week. Fitting, right? ❤️

I will honor all trips already booked or, if clients wish, I will refund deposits.
