I have been beyond blessed to get to know CJ and his family, and it was my pleasure to mount his beautiful elk for him. Proud to be a part of the Camo Cares family and helping to make their heroes' hunting dreams come true!

I was honored to mount this elk, which Ayden harvested in memory of his brother, David. So happy to get to know Ayden and his family, and to be a part of another successful Camo Cares hunt!

In early 2023, we welcomed the Wiles family into Camo Cares and began planning a hunting trip with David who was diagnosed with abdominal cancer. Unfortunately, David passed away on Easter, before he was able to go on his hunt.

Knowing the emotional power these hunts have, Camo Cares decided that David’s brother, Ayden, needed to go on that hunt in New Mexico and honor his brother.

10 months ago, Ayden and his family hopped on a plane headed west to hopefully fulfill his brother’s dream of hunting elk with his bow.

This week, Ayden got to pick up his beautiful mount and reminisce on the incredible trip he took. It was truly an honor be be a part of this hunt and to be able to honor David and his family with trip.

I was very happy to once again do a mount for Hunt Of A Lifetime. Colton and his family have become very special to Wendy and myself, so this one had even more meaning behind it. Congrats again, Colton. And many, many thanks to everyone who had a hand in helping to make this hunt happen!

Who's ready for Saturday?

So excited to earn a 1st place ribbon on my Bambi mount at the PA Taxidermy Association state competition!!!

If you are lucky enough to score a big trophy, the quality of a great shoulder mount starts with you! Remember these tips when caring for your buck in the field:

1) Never slit the throat of your animal.
2) Do not drag your deer out of the woods. If you must drag the carcass, use a tarp or sled so as to not damage any hair on the deer.
3) Never hang or drag your buck by a rope around its neck. It is best to hang by the back legs if possible.
4) Tag your deer in the ear, as required by PA Game law. But make as small of a hole in the ear as possible.
5) Keep the carcass cold or frozen, and get it to your taxidermist as quickly as possible. Decomposition of the hide begins immediately, and rapidly.
6) When skinning your deer, cut the hide at least 4" behind the front shoulders. If it is cut too short, it will not be possible to use for a shoulder mount.
