This came up for me during my meditation this morning.
How can I make this easy?
It also ties back to the Ten Percent Happier podcast episode with Abby Wambach that I was listening to last week. Abby talked about this common link athletes (and I think many of us) have between self-esteem and suffering. The more you suffer, the better you feel about yourself.
That's messed up...isn't it?! And I know for me it rings true, which really hit home.
If I do all the things, and maybe even the hard way, all by myself, then I can feel proud of myself.
If it's easy, I can't feel good about myself for doing it.

“I have a great job and I don’t want to stay in it.”
I wrote this in my journal a few years ago. I found it this morning while looking for some new journal prompts.
Sometimes we stick with something because people are always telling us the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Or we should be grateful for what we have.
So what if it doesn’t work out?
So what if the grass is dead like ours always is come mid-summer in Southern CA?
But what if you never find out? And that feeling weighs on your heart for years, or even decades, while you long to know if it could have been better?
What if making the choice makes you feel so alive it’s like you can’t even be contained in your own skin?!
What if it helps you get clear on what’s for you and what’s not for you? In a way that was never possible if you hadn’t allowed yourself the new, different, and scary experience?
What if you choose to follow your love instead of your fear?
