A warm-water shore diving dream destination.
Learning to shore dive is a great way to improve your skills as a scuba diver, especially if you've spent a lot of time following Divemasters and Instructors in other tropical places.
It requires you to sharpen your understanding of navigation, dive planning, and self-reliance. Shore diving will also challenge you physically as you carry heavy gear up and down stairs and through waves in unsteady entries.
Not for the faint of heart, but definitely a joy for those who love having more control over their dive day, mixed with a little Type 2 fun.

Warm water divers consistently underestimate the power of a good boat coat. However, once they experience a boat trip wrapped up in the warm embrace of a Surf-fur, they never go without.
The temperature may not drop as drastically in Florida, but the wind will still give you chills, especially after being in the water.
Our waterparkas are made with a windproof yet breathable material. Plus, the snap-up neck warmer keeps all that pesky cold air out.
Try out our gear and see what we mean firsthand.

Have you thought about getting a degree in environmentalism?
Get a glimpse of the reality of this challenging and rewarding life through the lens of one of our ambassadors, Samantha Hamilton, a University of Michigan PhD student, in our latest blog.
Every year, she heads to Japan to collect observational data on sea otter food sources, providing information about the health of the population overall.

We look forward to hearing more as her studies continue! We need more people getting into this field of work. Read the article and let us know: Would you brave the elements in the name of science?

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Fall will be here before we know it...
In case you need some warming gear to prepare for the shift in temperature, here are some of the most recent reviews of our SurfCheck Hoodie:
"Fits great, warm and comfy in the Washington Beach weather of the Great Pacific Northwest. Truly a very nice Jacket." - James K.
"Love it. Very warm. Fits great." - Robin V.
"Purchased this before a dive trip at the recommendation of a friend, and it was well worth it. A lot of the dive buddies and adaptive divers had Surffur hoodies and parkas. The temperatures were cooler and windy, and it did a great job keeping us all warm. Would highly recommend! Love it!" - Heather F.
Check out the full shop at our link, and don't let the colder weather keep you inside next season!

This is Samantha Hamilton, a second-year PhD student at the University of Michigan studying environment and sustainability.
She is working on her dissertation about sea otter conservation in Japan and the U.S.
The sea otters she studies live off Cape Kiritappu, a remote area in Hokkaido, Japan. Sea otters are returning to the country after more than a century of extirpation from the commercial fur trade. Samantha's focus is on their diet, which will give clues about population health and shellfish availability.
Findings from her ongoing research can further sea otter conservation and support the continued recovery of Cape Kiritappu’s population.
We are so proud to support people like Samantha getting out there doing the work!

We knew we hit the mark with this product the second we had scuba instructors recommending our waterparka to their students.
These people don't mess around with gear. They test everything and only keep the best of the best. Thank you, Gabriel, for being a member of the Surffur Raft!
