Question-Who are the instructors teaching the program? Answer-The instructors teaching the BEACH KIDS program are several of the same instructors that taught the City of Encinitas Junior Lifeguard Program in the past. Several of our instructors are teachers at various schools in the area. For individual bio's, click the "Photo's" link, and click on our staff album! Question-Where is the program held? Answer-The program is held every day at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. We will be just North of the Main Lifeguard tower in the cove. We will have banners visible that specify BEACH KIDS. Question-Does my child need to be a great swimmer or take a swim test? The program is noncompetitive with the emphasis on building confidence and education. We DO NOT require a swim test. Question-What should my child bring each day? Anwser- They are required to wear the rashguard we hand out on the first day. This helps us recognize the kids in our program, as well as providing good protection from the sun. We also would like them to have a beach towel, bathing suit, sunscreen and a small snack or money for the snack bar. Question-Do they need a specific bathing suit? Answer-We are asking the kids to have a solid NAVY or BLACK swim suits. The girls need a speedo type and the boys can have either elastic waist or boardshort type. We will have suits available for purchase the first day of each session. More information can be found on the first page of our website. Question-Will my child be running and swimming? Answer-Yes, each day we will do some combination of running and swimming. We usually do games and relays and although we encourage each child to participate it is not mandatory. Question-Does everyone need a rashguard? Answer-Each participant will receive a RED rashguard on the first day. Your child is required to show up each day WEARING the rashguard. This not only helps us to identify all BEACH KIDS but also provides great protection from the sun. Question-What if my child loses the rashguard or has two households? Answer-We will have additional rashguards available for purchase. Please let any instructor know if you need to purchase one. It is required that they wear the RED rashguard daily. Question-Do you have any sweatshirts available for purchase? Answer-Yes we do have sweatshirts available for purchase.
