Why is fitness important?

⚡️Our perception of the physical world is influenced by our capability within in.⚡️

As you become more physically capable, your view of the world changes.

Physically capable individuals can more likely assess challenges with greater accuracy.

✅A good swimmer will estimate an underwater swim to be shorter.
✅A fit hiker will more accurately estimate the steepness of a hill, or more accurately assess the weight of a challenging object they need to move.

If you’re less capable, everything around you looks more daunting. New challenges are more discouraging. Trails look longer and steeper. Society looks more sickly and scary- and your ability to operate within it, more difficult.

If you’re just starting out with training or coming back from a long layoff, this is part of what makes it so challenging; things aren’t more physically difficult, they literally “look” more discouraging.

As you become more fit and your confidence grows, your mind directly alters the way you see your world, like a funhouse mirror altering perception of reality as you move from one room to another.

It’s time to get ready to tackle the mountain, the beach, wedding season, and the Vegas pool parties. 😎

The next cycle will be an intensity cycle- designed to build on the aerobic + strength foundation built over the previous 12 weeks.

Weekly Interval weight training, energy system development, will have you moving faster than ever.

Volume rep maxes, bodybuilding, and regular sprint work will get you shredded this season.

Kick off Memorial Day weekend with an unforgettable event at V23 this Saturday.

Heat Times for “Murph” will be at 7:30am and 9:00. We will break out the big toys for a max out session and lift-off at 9am.

Come one, come all; and join us as we honor and celebrate our community, our ability, and our fallen brothers and sisters in wars both foreign and domestic.

Welcome to the V23 Team!! Evan will be leading the V23 Weightlifting Team/Classes beginning May 31st!!

Evan grew up with gymnastics, competing at the youth national level. The gymnastics background led him to success as a multi-sport athlete, ultimately reaching NCAA Division II and minor league lacrosse.

His love for the strength and conditioning aspect of collegiate athletics and the desire to compete at a high level set the stage for a successful CrossFit career with 4 Regional appearances. From there he found the sport of weightlifting, where he has medaled in national competition multiple times.

Evan takes pride in sharing his knowledge and experiences with athletes. He is an accomplished coach, qualifying athletes to the Masters World and Pan-American Championships for weightlifting as well as the CrossFit Games Sanctionals.

Always striving to reach his full potential as a person and as an athlete, Evan is passionate about helping those around him do the same.

USAW Sport Performance Coach + National weightlifter will be bringing the heat Tuesday + Thursday afternoons at 4:30pm- program will entail 4x programmed sessions per week.

Beginning Tuesday- May 31st.

We believe in a basic and universal physical education:

You should be able to explain the basic principles of the squat and perform them. (yes, them, there are multiple forms of the squat. Know them, and when/how to apply them).

We teach you how to organize your body to pick something heavy up off the ground.

We teach you what a macronutrient is, as well as how to make a rough calculation to give you autonomy over your own energy requirements.

We teach you how to build muscle.

We teach you how to mange your BMI.

We teach you that your core represents more than 6 muscles sold to you by some miniature human with a 28inch waist.

We teach you that training for both “fun” and with “discipline” aren’t mutually exclusive.

We teach that you food your eat, your training environment, and the people you share space with make a gigantic difference in the quality of the life you intend to live.

This is the V23 Way- and we’re always looking for good students.

What makes V23 different?

We don’t Coach a methodology- we Coach “people”.

And those people range from firefighters, NFL players, CrossFit competitors, tech + pharma executives, Strongman champions… mom’s and dad’s + weekend warriors.

The range of methods we employ are merely tools we use that allow our community to reach *their* goals - whether that’s better health + body composition , the competition floor, or just living the most physically fulfilling life possible.

This is why V23 has the most unique community of athletes + Coaches around. What we do can’t be defined by a methodology, but by principles- of improving the human experience through fitness, nutrition, + smart, well executed strength + conditioning.
