A few months ago, our customer Jack reached out to tell us about a match he shot in October 2025 — and mentioned he might have set a couple more National Records.

Well… he didn’t set a couple.
He broke 13 National Records.

Jack was running a Shilen barrel he purchased from Northland Shooters Supply on a Savage Arms Target action.

Here are the specs on his barrel:
- ​28” Shilen- Stainless Select Match- Large Shank Savage- Bull Contour- 223 Rem (throated to dummy rounds)- 7 twist

Here is what Jack had to say:
“My name is Jack Sapp and I have been a customer of Northland Shooters Supply for several years now. Above is a picture of my .223 F-Class rifle. It started life as a Savage Target rifle. Over time, I have made it my own. It has a McMillan X-IT stock, Rifle Basic trigger, Nightforce Competition scope and a Shilen Barrel. The barrel is a .224 X 7 Stainless SELECT/MATCH, @32". I have had several of these barrels and been very pleased with them.

Back in March of 2022 I shot a midrange match [300, 500 and 600 yards] at Palm Bay, Florida. Same style barrel with 50 rounds through it, brand new Lapua brass, and I broke 3 National Records!

​In March of 2024 with another Shilen Barrel on the rifle, I shot a 300-yard match at Southwest Florida Sportsman Association. I broke 3 National Records!

In October of 2025 I shot the F-Class Fullbore Midrange National Championship 300, 500, and 600 yard match at Palm Bay, Florida.

There were 35 competitors in FTR. My Shilen Barrel started the match with 862 rounds through it. I finished the match and the barrel had 964 rounds through it. I won a Silver Medal at 600 yards, a Gold Medal at 500 yards and was First Place in Grand Senior!

It took the NRA almost 4 months to review and finalize the results. But in the end, I had broken 13 National Records at the match! The shooting gods have been very good to me, as have the Shilen Barrels.

Swap Meet 2026 is scheduled March 28th. 8am-2pm at our facility. Vendors are signing up and the our web page has a sample of what some are bringing to sell or trade. .

Norman of Louisiana sent us some info and pictures on his 6.5 Creedmoor build using a Shilen barrel and a Zermatt Arms TL3 he purchased from NSS. Here are the parts Norman used in his build that he purchased from us.

Here is what Norman had to say about his build:

“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the team at Northland Shooting Supply. From start to finish, your customer support has been outstanding. You offer fair pricing, fast shipping, and a really knowledgeable approach that makes the process easy, especially for a custom build like this one.
Attached is a snapshot of my recent 6.5 Creedmoor build. I used your (NSS) TL3 short action receiver milled for AICS magazines and (NSS) 26" Shilen stainless select match bull barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (1:8 twist), utilizing the Savage-style pre-fit barrel nut system. I also went with the (NSS) TriggerTech special trigger and paired everything with the (NSS) MDT ACC Premier Gen2 chassis. The setup includes a Burris F1 Veracity scope, Seekins Precision mounts, and a few other upgrades like the Area 419 Hellfire brake, Atlas bipod, and Accu-Shot monopod.
The two five-shot groups pictured were fired while forming brass and roughing in a powder charge. The performance right out of the gate speaks volumes about the quality of your components and setup.
I'm really enjoying both the Zermatt TL3 and the ACC chassis—they complement each other really well. The action is smooth and solid, and the chassis makes setup and adjustments feel intuitive. It's been a great platform to build on, and I’m excited to keep dialing everything in as I refine my load development.

"Hey wanted to provide some feedback on a rifle I built using a Zermatt Origin action and a Criterion 26 inch MTU prefit barrel in 300WM. This rifle has been consistent 1/2 MOA or better with handloads. The picture of the target is a group with 215 Berger hybrids with a velocity of 2900 FPS.

I am a big fan of the Origin action. The bolt is smooth and looks great with the fluting and super convenient that it follows the R700 footprint.

I also shoot out to 1 mile regularly with this rifle. I am currently attempting a Cold Bore 1 mile shot with it."
