Happy Wednesday!😊 Let's chat about the perception of menopause in our culture. In Traditional Chinese Medicine menopause is called "DI ER CHUN" which means a “Second Spring.” The idea is that the energy your body used for reproduction doesn’t disappear — it gets redirected into longevity, creativity, and spiritual growth. A whole new season!
Ancient Indian tradition has a similar concept — the “forest dweller” stage — where later life is when you finally get to step back from daily grind stuff and focus on wisdom and meaning. It’s seen as leveling up, not fading out.
And in a lot of Indigenous cultures? Post-menopausal women become the matriarchs — the decision-makers, the knowledge keepers, the ones everyone goes to.
So basically the modern West is the odd one out for treating it like a loss. Everywhere else, it’s a promotion. Remember this.❤️
