We have to take a moment to applaud Katie for her hard work. She completed 20+ workouts a month. All summer long. All of which from Cuttyhunk, an island of about 300 people.
Katie spent her summer on a small island where the population drops to roughly a dozen people once the summer ends. No CFE down the road. No normal gym routine. No convenient excuse to put training on hold.
Instead, she brought CFE with her and completed more than 20 workouts every month while she was away. And now that she's back she's able to pick right back up where she left off, if not even better.
The consistency is admirable, the results are undeniable. Way to go, Katie!

THE WORK IS HARD. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE. 🤝
There’s something special about finishing a brutal workout and immediately reaching out for a fist bump, a high five, or a “nice work.”
It’s a small gesture, but it means a lot.
We push each other. We encourage each other. We celebrate the PRs, but we also celebrate the people who simply showed up and gave everything they had that day.
Because that's what makes a great gym community. When one person gets stronger, everyone gets stronger. A rising tide lifts all ships.
The person next to you might be the reason you pushed through one more rep. And someday, you might be the reason they do the same.
Train together. Get better together. 🤜🤛

Join us in congratulating Tom, our September Athlete of the Month! Tom has been a fantastic addition to the CFE community, consistently showing up, putting in the work, and continuing to get better. Whether he's chasing double-unders, turning weights he once deadlifted into cleans, or simply finding ways to stay active outside the gym, Tom embodies the consistency and attitude we love to see in our athletes. And apparently, after 8+ years in police work, he hasn't lost a foot pursuit yet—which we're pretty sure makes him the fastest athlete at CFE. 😂
Beyond his work ethic in the gym, Tom brings a great attitude and sense of humor to the community. He summed up his advice to anyone nervous about trying CrossFit perfectly: “The scariest part of it all is just walking through the door for the first time.” We're glad Tom walked through ours! Read on to learn a bit more from Tom himself!
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF CROSSFIT?
I work as a detective on the seacoast which keeps me busy! Outside of work I enjoy staying active and visiting new places! Whether that means trying to avoid getting sunburned while riding my motorcycle around, finding new trails to hike, or traveling to new US States! I recently checked off visiting my 35th US state, but unfortunately I front-loaded most of the warm-weather states so now I'll need to plan ahead and pack mittens... currently taking recommendations for places to go in the Midwest. When I find the time, I have also recently taken up cyber security-related courses as this has become a recent interest as well.
WHAT DID YOU DO FOR FITNESS BEFORE CFE?
Before CFE I alternating between kettlebell workouts and running, but before that mostly bodybuilding-style workouts. Now that I started this though I don't know if I could ever go back. Just kidding, I know that I could never...
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE CFE?
Honestly, I was looking to get more out of my workouts than what I had been doing and I was between CFE and another location. My boss was with CFE at the time and spoke highly of it, so I booked a trial class. From then I never looked back!
ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE HESITANT TO TRY CROSSFIT?
The scariest part of it all is just walking through the door for the first time. There is no bigger group that I've found where everyone simply just wants to see you succeed than the group at CFE. Some of the movements themselves (snatches, kipping pullups, etc) can have a little bit of a learning curve if you've never done them before (l hadn't), but it doesn't take long to start figuring them out. In the meantime give yourself some grace and patience. Aside from that, Shia Labeouf said it best: Do It.
PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
In the +8 years I've been in policework, I've technically never lost a foot pursuit. I also bought a home at the end of 2024 which I did not think would be possible at the time given the market
GREATEST CHALLENGES?
Meal prep and consistency on that front. I've gone through phases over the years where I will meal prep for a couple weeks, then fall off. As a result, I've been "bulking" for years now, but only recently began to become more consistent with it.
GOALS MOVING FORWARD?
In the gym - I want to stay consistent and just keep getting better; starting with double unders.
In life - it's always been a goal to get my private pilot license. I looked into it more this year, but I think it's going to be a 2027 adventure.
FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
Cleans. Before starting with CFE, Deadlifts lowkey terrified me and I avoided them because I was worried I'd do it wrong and get hurt. Now, I find it satisfying that the weight I used to be scared to deadlift is what I can now Clean.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE THING FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Easy - cinnamon french toast topped with fruit and way too much maple syrup
FAVORITE QUOTE
"The most powerful motivational speeches that I have ever heard came from people who told me I couldn't do something." -CT Fletcher
FAVORITE MOVIE
Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith unless it's anywhere near December, then it's The Grinch (the one with Jim Carrey obviously)
YOU'RE STUCK IN A KARAOKE BAR AND CAN'T LEAVE TIL YOU SING A SONG, WHAT IS IT?
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
WHAT'S A FUN FACT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
After years of acting classes in high school, in college I was in a commercial for a ski resort promoting ski lessons. Now I snowboard and do zero acting.

Summer has a way of making consistency a little harder.
Vacations. Long weekends. Kids being out of school. Travel. Beach days. Cookouts. Late nights. Hot weather. Busy schedules. And about a hundred other perfectly reasonable excuses to put training on the back burner.
But these hard workers kept showing up.
Everyone earning a spot in CFE’s COMMITTED CLUB attended 16 or more group classes during the month of August. That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident.
It means making training a priority even when life gets busy. It means getting to the gym when you'd rather sleep in. It means staying disciplined while everyone else is taking the summer off. And most importantly, it means continuing to put in the work that leads to real, long-term progress.
So let's give a huge congratulations to everyone who earned their way into the AUGUST COMMITTED CLUB!
