Penn State Behrend Track and Field and Cross Country

"BK" Brandon Konieczki broke our indoor school record in the long jump today at Brockport State's Invite! His jump of 7.09m (23' 3.25") is the furthest indoor or outdoor long jump in Behrend history!

The men's and women's cross country teams were named All-Academic teams for the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country season by the USTFCCCA. Teams are required to hold a cumulative GPA over 3.10 on a 4.0 scale as well as compete at the NCAA Regional championships. The women were among the highest 25 GPAs out of over 400 institutions who sponsor cross country in all of DIII!

The women's and men's cross country teams not only won their conference championship this past Fall, but they also had a solid semester in the classroom! The women led the way with a 3.75 cumulative gpa, while both teams were solidly above a 3.0 cumulative average! Their track and field counterparts also performed exceptionally well setting the time for the Spring. Look out for a future announcement regarding both the women's and men's teams earning All-Academic honors, coming soon!

AMCC Cross Country Championships hosted by Pitt Greensburg will be at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds on Saturday Nov 2, 2024.
The men will be seeking our 16th AMCC championship and 5th in a row, while the women are seeking our 14th championship and 6th in a row.
First race is at 11AM

On Saturday October 5, we will also get to honor and induct Catie Bertges to the Behrend Athletics Hall of Fame! Catie was Behrend's first woman to qualify for NCAA Cross Country National Championship finals! She also still holds our 10,000m school record and along with Kate (Spade) Flynn who we mentioned yesterday, holds the indoor 4x800m relay record!

We have been fortunate to bring home a 2nd place NCAA trophy on three occasions. Mitch Obenrader twice has been an NCAA runner-up in the javelin and Sam Hetrick was the NCAA runner-up in the high jump!
