On Sunday, March 15, two dozen Westwood ladies competed in a St. Patrick's Day themed round-robin doubles clinic duel. Each participant played three 8-game pro sets in an attempt to claim Westwood doubles supremacy. In the end, the Shamrocks outlasted the Leprechauns and earned Club bragging rights.

Congratulations to the Shamrock Team: Erin, Kelly, Mackenzee, Enisa, Julie, Ann, Linda, Peg, Hollin, Mary Jane, Courtney & Kyra!

Westwood Inter-Club:

The fun continued on Sunday when Coach Katie Munro took the Westwood Junior squad to Cleveland Racquet Club for an inter-club match. Dawned in all-white attire, our juniors battled against some of Cleveland’s finer players. We lost a narrow team match 11-9, but had plenty to be proud of from top to bottom of the lineup. This level of competition was much needed among our junior players and the camaraderie was extra special!

See the attached flyer highlighting the event and the scores. Katie deserves some major recognition for continuing to create such positive match play experiences for our kids!

Look for more events like these happening in the future at our club and at other clubs around the tri-state area!

Our Westwood Doubles Showdown featured an impressive 32 teams of varying levels! Some players travelled from as far as Warren and Jamestown to compete. We saw some killer volleys, miraculous gets and plenty of fist bumps between teams and opponents.

It was a wild, sweaty and fun doubles tournament! It was great to see such a wide variety of abilities battle it out in their own mini bracket or round robin event. For many players, this was their first time competing in a “real” tennis match. They all pleasantly exceeded their own expectations for how well they competed and how much fun they had. The mixed doubles event may have stolen the show for most fun had by the players!

Our various tournament bracket winners include:

Paul Flick & Enisa Siljkovic
Erica Jasinski & Abby Murray
Pat Grab & Thomas Pellegrino
Phil & Noah Hardesty
Steve Smith & David Kadouri
Jacob Wang & Shawn Wang
Gavin Mealy & Tobiah Reinard

Ric Harden Open- 2026 · Jan 24 – 25 📸 02/02/2026

The first annual Ric Harden Open was a huge success, filled with long rallies, great matches and plenty of laughs both on and off the court. It was great seeing over 40 different players of all ages and abilities out there enjoying the game we all love!

A special thank you to Tournament Director, Jeet Sabherwal for putting on a good show all weekend. Thanks to the Richmond Family for lovely decorations and tribute to Coach Ric and for providing snacks throughout the weekend. Thanks also to Brian Schibler of Tim Horton's for the coffee and donuts enjoyed by all!

Together, we raised $500 dollars for Dementia Research!

Dear Valued Members and Guests,

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you:

As of January 1, 2026, Westwood Racquet Club has welcomed new ownership!

Pat Grab and Ryan Deimel are proud to step in as the new stewards of this exceptional club! We each have 20 plus years experience in player development of all ages and together we bring a strong passion for tennis and community. We are committed to preserving everything you love about the club while introducing fresh ideas to enhance your experience.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our previous owner, Tom Pakulski. He resurrected this club into the vibrant tennis community it is today. Under his leadership the last 15 years, Westwood Racquet Club has been thriving with adults and kids of all ages and abilities, high school and college teams, and everyone in between.

Rest assured, there will be no disruptions to your memberships, reserved courts, lessons, leagues, clinics or other events. Reserved court rates will remain the same for all members. Hourly private lessons, select clinics, and a uniform guest fee will increase slightly to help cover the increased cost of utilities.

You will continue to see the same familiar faces when you walk in the door, as our dedicated staff remains in place. We plan to continue delivering the high-quality service, well-maintained courts, and welcoming atmosphere you've come to expect. In the coming months, we look forward to sharing plans for potential improvements, such as updated amenities, modern rebranding, stocked pro shop, new programming ideas, special member events, and later weekend hours.

Our goal is simple: to grow the game of tennis and to extend our tennis community.

The first enhancement you will notice in the coming weeks is a better second floor viewing experience. We are removing the glass window panels and replacing them with a modern railing to provide an open air lounge viewing area. We will keep some gym equipment but will focus more on the viewing experience for parents, players and fans, just in time for the winter/spring college and high school seasons.

We are genuinely excited to get to know each of you on a deeper level! We would love to hear your thoughts on how we can make Westwood Racquet Club even better. Please feel free to stop by the front desk, email us, or call with any questions, concerns or suggestions. We will soon follow up with a member survey so that we can better serve you!

Thank you for your continued loyalty and enthusiasm for the game. Together, let's make this next chapter the best one yet!

Pat Grab & Ryan Deimel
