New for 2022!
The very first Team Balance Baltimore “Outstanding Athlete” recognition goes to Damon Dukes.
Damon has been competing for Grapple Academy and Baltimore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for years, securing the top spot on the podium more times than we can count. This last weekend, Damon stood at the top once again securing a gold medal for Team Balance at the IBJJF Washington DC open in the Purple Belt division!
Thank you for your efforts and dedication!

I want to take this time to congratulate Mio on earning his brown belt. Mio has been with me since the beginning in 2013 when I openedthe bjj school in Rothenburg ODT, Germany. He has trained hard and has been teaching classes as well. Mio has competed in multiple tournaments.
Mio trains to continue to improve and is a good bjj instructor. He kept the school running while I returned to the US, in 2017, for a year and a half, before I returned to Germany, again, in 2019.
He is a great asset to the bjj community.
I know this is a bit late, but I'll be coming in today and I'd love to see you all! Come on out and strangle me while I'm in town.

Hey crew, my apologies for not getting in to roll with you. I had limited transportation. Also, due to work, I have to leave a week early. I am leaving today.
So, I will not get a chance to roll this time around. I will be back in the spring/summer around May for two weeks and I will, for sure, roll then.
See you on the mats.
To my Baltimore bjj family:
I apologize, in advance, for the long message.
I know this is a few days late. However, I want to say what an honor it is and has been to represent and be connected to Baltimore bjj and the great group of people over the years.
It is an honor and a privilege to have been promoted to black belt. There is a continuing responsibility to be a positive representative for Baltimore bjj, Team Balance, Phil Migliarese , Lee Synkowski , the Gracie legacy, those who have assisted me over the years and myself.
There have been so many people in the past twelve years at Baltimore bjj who have helped mold me as a bjj practitioner, yet more importantly as a person. Please do not feel left out if I do not mention you as you all are very important.
I like to say thank you to Lee Synkowski, Brian Scott (Shealy), Shimon Kafka , Jeff Mount , Josh Weinstock, Monroe Hall, Tim Kiser , Jason Newing, Zach Bruno, Savon Tham, Austin Jones, Neal Williams, Chris (Brown Belt, I apologize I forgot your last name, doesn't reflect upon you or diminish your contributions to my growth and development), Ryan Schraudner, Ryan Stark, Jeff Palughi, Rick Slomba, Nick Bohli, Dragons Mma Martial Arts and last but not least Robert J Sullivan.
Again, I apologize if I have overlooked anyone. Each of these individuals have influenced my Bjj and me as a person.
I want also thank my Bjj Rothenburg family. I opened a Bjj school in Rothenburg ODT (Germany) in September of 2013. These individuals allowed me to offer my knowledge, skills, experience and abilities. They were willing to trust me and believed in me to help them develop their Bjj skills. Words cannot express the honor it has been and the gratitude that I have for the opportunity.
My journey has just begun and I look forward to many more epic rolls with each and everyone of you. "Iron sharpens iron".
Thank you all.
See you on the mats.
