This event is for anyone wanting to learn more about fi****ms and fi***rm safety. We encourage everyone, especially youth, to come learn how to use and be safe around fi****ms.

Free BBQ Lunch at 12 noon! Hotdogs, hamburgers, and soft drinks.
Try out a variety of .22 ri**es with our coaches.
All fi****ms, ammo, eye, and ear protection will be provided free of charge.
Safety briefings will be held every 15 minutes. Each participant must sign a consent form; youths must be accompanied by an adult or guardian to sign consent. Parents are encouraged to observe, but not to coach.
* Minimum dress code: closed neck shirt, like a crewneck t-shirt, long pants or jeans, and closed-toed shoes.
* If you wear eye glasses, bring them.
* Bring camp chairs for your comfort
* No personal fi****ms allowed or pets allowed.
A raffle will be held at 1pm. There will be prizes for adults and youngers, including a Crickett Generation 2 Bolt Action .22 R***e for one lucky youth and Hatpoint targets with ear pro along with other great prizes!

Youth Upland Bird Hunt for Pheasant:
Where: Fern Ridge Wildlife Area (FRWA)
Dates: September 12-13
Bag Limit: Hunters may harvest rooster pheasants up to TWO (2) roosters per day.
Eligibility: Hunters age 17 and younger, holding a Hunter Ed. Safety Education Certificate (card signed by a HE instructor).
In this hunt an adult 21 years or older, who may not hunt, must accompany one youth hunter. All participants must attend a safety briefing.

Requirements: Each youth hunter must have in their possession:

A Hunter Safety Education Certificate (or a Department issued document (i.e., Hunting license, which includes their Hunter Safety Education Certificate Number).

Hunter 12 years or older must have a valid hunting license with an upland game bird validation.

Hunters 11 years and younger, with a Hunting Safety Education Certification in their name, are not required to hold a hunting license or upland tag.

A blaze orange hat, shooting glasses (eye protection) and blaze orange vest must be worn by all participants, including adults.

No permit for the FRWA is required. Just report to FRWA starting at 7:00 AM at the checking station located in the Nielson Road parking lot. Hunting hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Only federally approved non-toxic shot may be used.
