The Evans at Canal Shores

The Evans at Canal Shores Community golf course spanning Evanston and Wilmette. 18 Holes, Par 60, 3,900 yards.

Situated on land owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, the course was also originally known as the Peter Jans Golf Course, after an enthusiastic golfer who was responsible for organizing support for the course. Jans felt that people didn’t take up golf due to its expense, and wanted to improved access to the game. The course is managed by the Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association, a volunteer organization composed of golfers and neighbors who want to preserve and improve this unique and special green space in our community

Join us for the Canal Shores BioBlitz and help discover the incredible biodiversity right in our backyard. From birds and butterflies to wildflowers and fungi, every observation helps us better understand and protect the natural areas of Canal Shores.

No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and a smartphone! We’ll be using the free iNaturalist app to help identify everything you find.
