They always say ”that’s what you get because you share it online.”

The part of my life I share online is a small slice of the whole picture. If you see 5 minutes worth of content, which is a lot, that’s .35% of my day.

People who think they know my story based on that are usually the same ones who have never bothered to actually ask or understand it. Likely they have never had an actual conversation with me.

And if they don’t like me… that’s cool. There is not one place or law that says I have to like every person I meet, and none that say you have to either.

Opinions are easy to form from a distance. Understanding takes a little more effort, and an open mind.

But honestly, the more people judge me, the more grace and understanding I have for others. I do genuinely try to see both sides and I am more forgiving than a very high percentage of people I know.

I truly believe communication can solve almost any problem, if not all.

Through this whole journey, fundamentally I haven’t changed. I still want the best for everyone. I still want to win the hard way, with everyone being as tough as they could be that day, I’m still going to advocate for positive change, I’m still going to keep writing and sharing. I’m not perfect and I’ve learned plenty the hard way, I still wouldn’t change a thing.

So, if you think you can do it better, cool… go do it!

And I’ll still be there to cheer for you or learn from you when you do. 🫶🏻

With spring approaching, and new foals being born, we wanted to remind everyone of a few range rules. These rules are not only for your safety, but also to protect the horses. It is extremely important to follow these guidelines to help preserve their natural wild instincts, and avoid habituation to people.

BLM Utah requires visitors to stay 100 feet back from the horses. This is a minimum distance. Additionally, the BLM has recommended to stay at least 300 feet from families with new foals. Foals have been abandoned before due to people getting too close.

To help you visualize what 100 feet looks like, imagine 1 1/2 - 2 semi trucks between you and the horse.

If the horses approach you, thus closing that distance, you are obligated to move out of their path and put the 100 foot distance back between you and the horses.

If you share the 100 feet rule when you post pictures of horses, it goes a long way towards educating others.

Be mindful not to block a known path, or water source with your vehicle. Do not park next to water sources. Do not drive off road and only drive on well used two-tracks. This protects the valuable forage the horses rely on. If horses are on the roadway, patiently wait for them to pass and drive slowly.

Per code 43. CFR 4770.1, it is against federal law to harass the horses, pet, feed, or touch them. Mustangs have died in other herds by eating an apple given by humans.

You may contact the BLM at 801-320-8300 for more info or to make a report. Thank you for helping keep our wild horses wild!
