After 2 SIYAK Events, here is the Top 10 in Angler of the Year! Angler of the Year is based on your top 5 scores of the 7 events. It's still early yet, and there is plenty of fishing left. You won't want to miss the Championship! Anglers qualify for the championship by winning an event or by accumulating AOY points. Only 14 anglers qualify for the Bioenno Power Championship brought to you by Walton Rods!

SIYAK Event #2 at Beaver Lake Presented by Bill Lewis Fishing is in the books! We want to thank everyone who participated! The boating wasn't too rowdy, and fishing was pretty darn good considering all but one of the competitors caught a limit! Many anglers reported catching multiple limits of fish! Unfortunately, most of the fish were smaller in size. The gnats, however, were most annoying!

Congratulations to Chris Dailey for the Wicked Weights Tungsten Fishing Tackle Wicked Fast Limit! 20 or so minutes is amazing! Chris took home a $25 Coupon for some amazing Tungsten!

Congratulations to Josh Christmas for collecting the Tiny Bass Sidepot. However, we did have to have a heart-to-heart about fish care and the spirit of competition. It's all good, Tiny Fish need love too! Josh took home some gas money!

Congratulations to young Mr. Gavin McNulty for catching the EGO Fishing - Designed for the Savvy Angler Big Bass! Gavin is the son of our Co-Founder Thomas McNulty! This was Gavin's first Big Bass award and first limit while fishing with SIYAK! Gavin took home an Ego Fishing Kayak/Wade Net, $55 in digital dollars, and a big piece of "I beat my Dad, cake!"

In 3rd place and 1st out of the money was Mr. Bruce Beechler. Bruce took home a 12v 12AH Bioenno Power battery! Congratulations Bruce!

In 2nd Place, Congratulations to Matt Kiefer with a solid 75" bag anchored by a 16.5 and a 16. Matt will be receiving $126.40!

And the Champ of the day! Congratulations to Brant Sharp for claiming the top prize! Brant had 75.25" on the day with a 17" kicker fish and a mixed bag of 14s. Brant took home the Winner's Cup and $234.73! Brant is also the 2nd person qualified for the 2026 Championship on West Boggs in September!

Sunday is SIYAK Event #2 for 2026. Beaver Lake in Jasper, Indiana, will be presented by Bill Lewis Fishing. We'll have a couple of traps to hand out! Remember to bring $10 cash for the annual lake fee and be prepared to fill out the form. There will be a separate side pot post. Please do not park at the ramp to get your stuff ready! If you are rolling without a trailer or cart, then drop off your stuff as quick as possible and get out of the way.

The current leader for the SIYAK 2026 Big Bass of the Year presented by The Rod Locker is this 18.5" Largemouth from Brush Creek, caught by James England. With 6 more events and the Championship, there will be some bigger fish to show up.

Next up is Beaver Lake just outside of Jasper, IN presented by Bill Lewis Fishing. I spoke to the lake manager this week, and he said the lake is just about back to normal pool after the winter drawdown. We will be heading into a full moon a few days after the event. The largemouth spawn should be kicking into high gear!

As a reminder, this lake requires a registration fee and sticker. When you go, make sure to have $10 with you and be prepared to give the lake manager (Tom Ashcroft) your information. Just let him know you are pre-fishing for the SIYAK event on April 26th. If you go in blind, Tom will be there before launch to take care of this.

Please be aware that the ramp area is small. Please get your kayaks ready before proceeding to the ramp. The parking area is also small, but there are some grassy areas where we can park.

Cell phone coverage is spotty at best down in the holler; be prepared to find a spot out on the lake to upload your fish. You may have to wait until you get back to town.

Unfortunately, you can't schedule months in advance and take the weather into account. But we had to go fish anyway, so we bundled up and a went. Bites were hard to come by. As it turns out 2 keeper fish was the max any single angler could catch. The top 2 anglers ended up with the same length at 33", but Big Bass broke the tie! Congratulations to James England for winning Brush Creek presented by SOG Knives & Tools and taking the EGO Fishing - Designed for the Savvy Angler Big Bass! Congratulations to Chris Wargel for taking 2nd place! Mr. Antoine Hayes came in 3rd and was took home a Bioenno Power 12v12ah battery. Antoine, TJ Aylward, and Luis Pardo took home a SOG Flash MT by random draw. Anglers enjoyed some PB&J sandwiches, Little Debbie snacks, apples, and water if they wished.

James is the first angler to gain an invite to the Bioenno Power Championship on West Boggs Presented by Walton Rods!

James has also posted the fish to be for the The Rod Locker Big Bass of the Year with his 18.5" largemouth!

We have had a slight change. Our first event has been moved to Saturday, 3-28-26. The USA Bassin Boat Trail has finally posted its schedule and has chosen to start on Sunday, 3-29-26.

This Saturday, January 31st, is The Rod Locker Grand Opening, 9am to 5pm at 500 North Congress, Evansville, IN! Go check them out.

The Indiana Fishing Expo is this weekend, January 31st and February 1st. Head on up to Danville, IN to check out the sweet Rods that Walton Rods has to offer! SIYAK members were blessed to check them out and fish with them last year! Go find them at Booth #31!
