From Willow: I love skating because of the accepting environment. Everyone treats you amazingly even if you're new. I also love making new friends and spending time with old friends. I love the excitement of getting to learn new skills and moves and the joy of perfecting old moves. (PS-Getting new music and dresses is REALLY fun!)

Parent Perspective: Future Stars was a great way to dip our toes into the world of figure skating competitions. The program was well organized and provided parents with a better understanding of all things competitive figure skating: how to register for a competition, how to find a dress, how to do hair and makeup, etc. Even though Willow had been in Learn to Skate classes for a while, it was Future Stars that really sparked her love of skating!

Registration is now open for Fall Learn to Skate. Come skate with us on Tuesdays starting August 25th!

Future Stars class starts this Saturday! Eliza is another GEFSC skater who kicked off her competitive skating journey with Future Stars class and has continued competing ever since, including at the 2025 US Figure Skating National Showcase competition.

With this year’s Future Stars class coming up, we’re spotlighting some of our former Future Stars skaters who are still competing! ⭐️ Here’s what Olivia’s family shared:

“As a parent new to the world of figure skating, the Future Stars program gave us the opportunity to test the waters before fully committing to competitive figure skating. Olivia learned skills and routines for the performance and we, as parents, learned valuable insight to US Figure Skating. We quickly learned how much Olivia loved to perform and have been GEFSC members ever since. Highly recommend this program for any families new to the sport!”

Registration for this year’s class is open on our website! Class begins Saturday, August 1st.

The first of our Future Stars spotlights is Coach Tori! Tori did her first competition through the Future Stars class many years ago, and is now competing in college! She’s gotten to compete across the country with Adrian College’s Synchronized Skating Team and was named team captain this year. Tori is also one of our GEFSC Learn to Skate instructors, and we’ve loved having her here coaching during her summer breaks!

From Tori: I'm glad I did Future Stars because it was a great way to introduce me to competitive figure skating. Future Stars also helped me find my coach and get started in our club, GEFSC.

The Future Stars Competition Prep Class is coming up! Skaters in Snowplow Sam or Basic 1 through Basic 6 can join us to learn a program to compete at the upcoming Southern Indiana Ice Classic competition (hosted at Swonder). Enjoy a few photos of some of our classes at their first competitions over the years!
