Living Root Dragon Boat

🏆🐉✨ What an incredible ending to our season on Saturday at the race in Laconia, NH!

Living Root took 1st place in the Major to wrap up our final race of the year!

Beyond the competition, we had the honor of paddling with 603 United, supporting their powerful mission to foster community and break down barriers for individuals of all abilities.

A huge thank you to NASWA Resort for hosting at such a beautiful lakeside venue, the Laconia Rotary Club for bringing the community together, and 22Dragons for running the show!

And a big shoutout to two of our paddlers who raced for the very first time (including one who stepped up to drum a heat!), as well as our guest paddlers! Special shoutout to our coaching team and supporters for getting us here this season.

We’re leaving it all on the water and heading into the off-season proud, grateful, and already excited for next year! ❤️⚡

Aug 20th practice: 20% locking into technique, 80% building bigger muscles so no one notices we’re internally screaming. 10/10 character-building session.

Left it all out on the water this weekend! 🌊

We fought hard in Division C and were right there in the medal mix until the very end. While we aren’t walking away with hardware this time, we couldn’t be prouder of the grit, heart, and teamwork everyone showed.

Huge shout-out to:
- Our Boston Coaching Team, Captain Dani, and Steerer Mark for preparing, herding, and inspiring us.
-Our 5 first-timers for absolutely crushing their first races.
-Our teammates and families who showed up loud and proud to cheer us on.
-The Boston Dragon Boat Festival and 22Dragons for hosting an incredible event.

This is just the kickoff to our season, and the fire is officially lit. 🔥
Up next: back to practice so we can crush the rest of our summer races! 💪

This time next week, Living Root Dragon Boat is kicking off our competition season right here at home for the Boston Dragon Boat Festival! 🐲🛶🌊

Come catch the action near the John W. Weeks Bridge—just a short, 12-minute walk from the Harvard Square Red Line T stop. Aside from the high-energy racing, the festival will feature amazing food vendors and traditional cultural performances and activities all day Sunday.

If you are in the Boston area and have ever been curious about dragon boating, this is the perfect time to check it out. With over 70 teams competing, there will be back-to-back races all day (with just a quick break for lunch).

If you come through, make sure to find the Living Root tent and say hi! Look for us in our maroon jerseys (pictured). We’d love to meet you! 👋
