📣 The Snohomish County Sports Commission (SCSC) unveiled its new marketing campaign, "SCSC: Sports' Best in the Pacific Northwest" and the tagline "Sports, Support, Success," tailored toward enhancing Snohomish County's image as a premier sports destination.

The "Sports' Best in the Pacific Northwest" campaign will continue to highlight the area's abundant supply of sports events, but it'll add new elements to the overall destination marketing strategy, such as featuring facilities nestled throughout the vast landscape of the county and mapping out all of the different amenities athletes, teams and overall visitors can experience while they're in the area for the weekend.

"Creating memories for participants, spectators and event organizers is our sole purpose," said Tammy Dunn, SCSC executive director. "The relationships we've established over the years with local organizations, businesses and hotels has helped create welcoming and successful visitor experiences, and we're excited for what the next year of events will bring to our community."

Meet Alasa Enkhbold, our fall 2026 intern!

Originally from Alaska, Alasa has also lived in Washington and is a Marysville Pilchuck High School alumna. She currently attends Washington State University, majoring in Integrated Strategic Communications, and plans to graduate in fall 2027. In her free time, Alasa enjoys playing tennis, hiking, taking fun photos and videos and going to concerts. She's excited to gain experience in the sports industry and bring her passion for communications to the team.

The 2026 Sports Events & Tourism Association hosted its annual 4S & Rights Holder Summit in Fort Worth, Texas from Oct. 12-14. 🤠 ⭐ 🌵 🐎

From Monday's welcome reception at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar 🎹, the opening keynote talk with Olympic gold medalist Carly Patterson 🎤 and two full days of informational roundtable discussions and educational sessions surrounding the sports events and tourism industry 📝, to watching the Dallas Stars play under the lights at American Airlines Center 🏒 and taking a side quest to try some brisket at the Fort Worth Barbecue Company 🥩, it was a blast.

The Snohomish County Sports Commission is also proud to have been selected as a member awards finalist for the Destination Branding & Marketing Campaign of the Year (Population 500,000 and above) category. 👏 Congratulations to Greater Miami + Miami Beach for being taking home the hardware! 🏆

We're appreciative that the continuous work and dedication that Tammy Dunn, Nathan Caferro, Landyn Olson and Taras McCurdie bring each day to market Snohomish County as a premier sports destination, by attending conferences nationally and collaborating with facilities and community partners locally, is being recognized. 🤝

The USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) Rising Star program provides athletes ages 10 and older not only time to enhance their skills under the guidance of Olympic, national team, collegiate and high-level coaches but also an opportunity to be selected to the All Star Camp in November. 🏊 🏊‍♂️ 🏊‍♀️

Each year, there are six Rising Star Camps hosted across the country spanning August through September, and the Snohomish Aquatic Center served as the fourth stop from Sept. 12-13, led by USA National Team assistant coach Marivi Escalona, Olympic silver medalist Jaime Czarowski, Niloufar Esmaeili and Seattle Synchro coaches Patricia Camaran and Maria Romero. 🏅

Approximately 65 athletes from various clubs attended the 2026 USAAS Swimming Rising Star Camp, which included two days of water sessions focused on figures, elements, skills & drills and routines, land sessions focused on flexibility, extension and strength, classroom sessions focused on motivation and goal setting and an inspirational Q&A session led by Czarowski.

Picture it: a home run contest, base-running challenge, coach dance-off competition, an Everett AquaSox game and pool-play/double-elimination brackets, all part of a 70 and sunny, week-long summer softball national championship event. Yes, it happened, right here in Everett, Washington. ☀️ 🥎

From July 20-25, USA Softball hosted the 2026 12U, 14U and 18U Class B Western Nationals at Phil Johnson Ballfields, featuring 22 teams comprised of 375 athletes. In addition to a few local squads, the majority traveled from California, Hawaii and Idaho. And tallying all the umpires, coaches and players’ family members, the total spectator attendance was approximately 650.

After a successful turnout two years ago at the 2024 14U, 16U and 18U Class B Western Nationals tournament, USA Softball returned to host another opportunity for teams to compete at the national level after their qualification through respective USA Softball state and metro associations.

Throughout the week, everyone at the Snohomish County Sports Commission (SCSC) had boots on the ground, assisting with opening ceremony activities at Everett Memorial Stadium, capturing team photos for the tournament program, coordinating teams to attend an Everett AquaSox game with players throwing out the first pitch and other event logistics.

With Saatva Skate America 2026 coming to Angel Of The Winds Arena (AOTWA) in Everett from Nov. 13-15, U.S. Figure Skating representatives and world-renowned figure skater Jason Brown visited Snohomish County this past weekend to help ignite the excitement. ⛸️

The two-time Olympian (2022, 2014 (bronze)) 🥉 and 2015 U.S. champion 🥇 experienced a Seattle Storm game at Climate Pledge Arena 🏀 on Sept. 23 before taking the lead at Saatva Skatefest at the Everett Community Ice Rink inside AOTWA ⛸️ on Sept. 24 where he taught a free class to participants 6 years old through adults. The next morning on Sept. 25, Brown visited Whittier Elementary School where he spoke to students about his figure skating journey 🎤 before he toured Funko Headquarters and created his very own Funko Pop! 🤩

In June, the ISU Figure Skating Union (ISU) announced the athlete assignments for the 2026 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which included Saatva Skate America 2026 as the fourth of six stops of the season. This is the first time since 2018 that Skate America is coming to Everett and the fifth time that the event will be held in Washington state. 👏

In addition to Brown, Olympic medalists Amber Glenn and Ilia Malinin will also be competing, along with their Team USA teammates Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, who are making their Skate America ice dance debut, and reigning U.S champions and Four Continents Championships gold medalists Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov, who are returning in the pairs competition.
