Respect
On 17 July 1995, Juan Manuel Fangio died in Buenos Aires at the age of 84. His achievements had already shaped the first decade of the Formula One World Championship.
Fangio made his World Championship debut in 1950 at the age of 38. He won the title in 1951 and then four consecutive championships from 1954 to 1957. Across those campaigns he represented Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari. He remains the only driver to have won world titles with four different teams.
Fangio won 24 of his 51 championship Grands Prix, a victory rate of more than 47 percent. He also recorded 29 pole positions and 35 podium finishes. His fifth title was secured at the 1957 German Grand Prix, where a delayed pit stop left him nearly a minute behind Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins. Around the NĂźrburgring, he repeatedly broke the lap record, caught both Ferraris and claimed the final victory of his Formula One career.
His reputation also rested on the way he worked with people. Fangio began working as a mechanic at the age of 11 and carried that understanding of machinery throughout his career. He remained close to the people who prepared his cars, while rivals respected his fairness, courtesy and humility. Stirling Moss called him âMaestroâ and said he loved Fangio like a father.
Thirty-one years after his death, Juan Manuel Fangio remains one of the central figures in Formula One history.

đ¤Lewis
Jenson Button highlighted Lewis Hamiltonâs strong recent form, saying the seven-time champion is back to his best maximising the car and showing the familiar hunger that defined his dominant years. Button noted that Lewisâs last race result wasnât his fault, as the package simply wasnât competitive enough, yet he still outperformed his highly regarded teammate Charles Leclerc. This comparison speaks volumes about Lewisâs current confidence and consistency.
Jenson also expressed optimism for Silverstone, pointing out that cooler temperatures should suit Lewis and the Ferrari package well. With its mix of high-speed corners and power demands, the British circuit could play to the carâs aero strengths. Button believes Lewis has a real chance of victory on home soil, where the crowd support will be electric.
Fans will love hearing this kind of praise from a fellow champion. Lewis arriving at Silverstone with renewed confidence and Buttonâs endorsement sets up an exciting home race. Itâs a reminder of why Hamilton remains such a formidable force â when the car allows, the old magic is still very much there. Home race heroics incoming?
