Alright everyone,

October is coming, and we’re doing something a little different.

Sober October. No booze. No THC. No recreational substances. 31 days. Who’s in?

This isn’t just a “no drinking” challenge...this is for my “California Sober” friends too haha.

The idea is to take October 1 through October 31 completely sober across the board — whether your thing is beers, wine, gummies, w**d, or something else.

I enjoy a brew or a gummy as much as the next person, but every once in a while it’s good to hit the reset button and see what happens.

So for the entire month of October, I’m going completely sober — and I’m inviting anyone who wants to join me to jump in.

Why?

Better sleep. Better recovery. More energy. Better training. Potential changes in body composition. And maybe just proving to yourself that you can do it.

Plus, October isn’t exactly the easiest month to choose. Football weekends. Halloween. Parties. All the normal opportunities to say, “Eh, screw it.”

Which is kind of the point.

There’s no cost. No prize. No complicated scoring system.

Just 31 days, a whiteboard, and some good old-fashioned public accountability.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Sign up on the whiteboard at the gym.

Each week, we’ll mark our progress on the board. Make it through the week? Check it off.

Slip up?

Mark it on the board and keep going.

This isn’t about being perfect or getting kicked out of the challenge because you screwed up on Day 17. Own it, mark it down, and get right back after it.

I also HIGHLY recommend taking a private picture of yourself on Day 1 and Day 31. You don’t need to show it to anyone. This is just for you. It’ll be interesting to see what 31 days can do.

And get your spouse/significant other to do it with you!

It’s a hell of a lot easier when you’re not sitting on the couch drinking sparkling water while the person next to you cracks a beer or pops a gummy 😂. More importantly, this is a pretty awesome challenge to take on together.

9/11…25 years ago, we underwent a tragic loss. 25 years ago, we became stronger than ever before. We recognize that adversity breeds strength. And through adverse times, we can find goodness and kindnesses.
‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌In the words of John F. Kennedy, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Our 9/11 Hero WOD is this Friday. Every meter, every wallball, every sit up, every step is to honor those lives lost, our first responders, our soldiers, our flight crews, our Fire Fighters, our brave citizens, our survivors, our loved ones, ourselves. CrossFit Evergreen, we are STRONGER TOGETHER

A note from Laura DesGranges …Reporting in on CrossFit Evergreen at the Boulder Sunset triathlon today—thought you’d want to see your girlies! Teri did a duathlon (run bike run) and got FIRST in her age group despite tripping at the beginning — which ultimately needed stitches! She’s a beast! The rest of us did the sprint and it was Jordan & Ari’s first and they did GREAT! Thanks for keeping us all in shape!
Also Courtney Culligan competed! 🙌Love to hear your results too!
Stronger Together!
