What are you really looking for in an after-school activity?
As school starts back up, parents start searching:
“After-school care in Evergreen.”
“After-school activities.”
“After-school enrichment.”
And there are so many great options.
But maybe the better question isn't:
“What should my child do after school?”
Maybe it's:
“What do I want my child to get from those hours?”
Maybe it's making friends.
Maybe it's burning off energy.
Maybe it's learning something new.
Or maybe it's becoming more confident, disciplined, focused, and resilient.
Because those hours aren't just time to fill.
They're time when kids are still growing.
At Taekwondo, kids learn to listen, try something difficult, make mistakes, keep going, encourage others, and discover:
“I can do hard things.”
That lesson goes far beyond the mat.
So as you're looking at activities for your child this school year, don't just ask what they'll do.
Ask who they'll have the opportunity to become.
And if Taekwondo or martial arts is on your list, (or you just want to see what everyone is talking about) we'd love to have you visit Envision Martial Arts, meet our team, and see if we're the right fit for your family.

Every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
This weekend, encourage your child to finish something they've started.
It could be reading one more chapter.
Practicing one more kick.
Helping with one more chore.
Small victories teach children that perseverance leads to progress.
Progress, not perfection, is always worth celebrating.
Share one goal your family is working toward together!
We’ve been talking about perseverance this week at Envision.
And sometimes perseverance looks like something very simple:
Not giving up when you really want to.
Our kids are going to fail.
And so are we.
We’re going to make mistakes. We’re going to struggle. We’re going to have things we aren’t good at yet.
And that’s okay.
In fact, if we were perfect at everything, we wouldn’t be learning anything new.
The same is true for our kids.
Failure doesn’t mean they aren’t capable.
It means they’re learning.
What matters is what happens next.
Do we give up?
Or do we get back up, learn from it, and try again?
That’s one of the lessons we love about Taekwondo.
Kids learn that they don’t have to be perfect to make progress. They just have to be willing to keep going.
Because perseverance isn’t about never failing.
It’s about refusing to let failure be the reason you quit.
And maybe it’s a reminder we all need sometimes, not just our kids.
Mrs. Choate shares more about this week’s Word of the Week, Perseverance, in the video below.
What’s something your child has struggled with but kept working at? We’d love to hear about it.

Success doesn't belong to the most talented. It belongs to the ones who refuse to quit.
Every black belt was once a beginner who struggled.
They missed kicks.
Forgot forms.
Lost matches.
Wanted to give up.
But they kept showing up.
Perseverance isn't about never failing.
It's about deciding that one difficult day won't define your future.
At Envision Martial Arts, we celebrate effort just as much as achievement because resilience is a skill every child will use for the rest of their life.
💬 Ask your child tonight:
"What was something hard that you didn't give up on this week?"
Every challenge they overcome today prepares them for tomorrow.

Success rarely happens on the first try.
Whether it's learning a new technique, improving in school, or overcoming a challenge, growth takes persistence.
Every Taekwondo class reminds students that it's okay to struggle. What matters is getting back up and trying again.
Children who learn perseverance discover something powerful:
"I can do hard things."
That belief follows them everywhere they go.
What's something your child didn't give up on recently? We'd love to celebrate their perseverance!
We’ve noticed something interesting when parents start looking for activities for their kids.
Many parents begin with the same question:
“What’s the best program for my child?”
But the better question might be:
“What does my child need most right now?”
Some kids need a place to build confidence.
Some need help with focus and listening.
Some need a positive challenge where they can learn perseverance and responsibility.
And some just need a community where they feel supported, encouraged, and proud of themselves.
The right activity isn’t always the one that looks the most impressive online.
It’s the one where your child is excited to show up, surrounded by positive role models, and growing into a stronger version of themselves.
At the end of the day, parents aren’t just choosing a class.
They’re choosing the environment that helps shape who their child becomes.
Taekwondo is about more than kicks and punches.
It’s about building confidence, discipline, respect, leadership, and resilience that kids can carry into school, friendships, and life.
If you’re looking for a positive place for your child to grow this school year, we’d love to invite you to visit Envision Martial Arts, meet our team, and see if we’re the right fit for your family.

Integrity begins at home.
Children are always watching how we respond to challenges, treat others, and keep our promises.
This weekend, look for an opportunity to recognize your child for making a good choice; even if it was something small.
When we celebrate character, we encourage more of it.
Those everyday moments often become life's biggest lessons.
Tell us about one moment your child showed integrity this week!
We've noticed something interesting while watching kids train.
Most children don't stop because they aren't physically capable.
They stop because their minds tell them they can't.
Before a recent World's Week training exercise even began, Grand Master Horn gathered the students together and told them exactly what was about to happen.
"This starts easy... then it gets harder."
He reminded them to encourage their partner.
"Things are easier when someone is encouraging you."
Then he gave them one final challenge before they started:
"Give it everything you can until you can't... then figure out how to go a little more."
That moment wasn't about preparing them for an exercise.
It was about preparing them for life.
Because that's what Taekwondo does.
It develops the body, but it also trains the mind to persevere when things get difficult, to encourage others when they're struggling, and to discover they're capable of more than they believed.
So before asking,
"What will my child learn in Taekwondo?"
Ask,
"What kind of mindset do I hope my child develops when life gets hard?"
For us, that's one of the most valuable lessons we can teach.
If you're looking for an activity that develops both the body and the mind, we'd love to have you visit Envision Martial Arts and see if we're the right fit for your family.
We've noticed something that often surprises parents.
The biggest victories in Taekwondo usually don't happen during a belt test or a tournament.
They happen in the small moments.
Like when students are stretching before class.
Recently, Grand Master Horn reminded the students:
"Every day, your job is to get a little closer to your goal and keep trying your best."
Not to be perfect.
Not to be better than someone else.
Just to keep making progress.
That's one of the most important lessons kids can learn.
Because confidence isn't built by reaching a goal overnight.
It's built by showing up, putting in the effort, and realizing that today's best is a little stronger than yesterday's.
So before asking,
"How quickly will my child earn their next belt?"
Ask,
"Is my child learning to enjoy the process of improving?"
The belts are milestones.
The mindset they develop along the way is what stays with them for life.
💙🥋
What's one goal you've achieved because you simply kept showing up and trying your best?

Integrity is what you do when no one is watching.
It's easy to make the right choice when someone is keeping score.
The real test comes when no one would know if you took the shortcut.
Every child faces moments like these; whether it's owning a mistake, telling the truth, or doing their best even when it's difficult.
At Envision Martial Arts, we believe confidence isn't built by winning every time. It's built by making the right choice, even when it's the harder one.
Those small moments of integrity become the foundation for strong leaders, trusted friends, and confident adults.
💬 This week, ask your child:
"What was one right choice you made today that no one else saw?"
Those conversations can shape a lifetime.
