It wasn’t supposed to rain like it did Saturday night in central Pa. It poured all night, but I stayed dry. I had my tent set on higher ground; waking to artificial streams flowing around me. During the night my thoughts turned to the recent extreme flooding in Tibet and Nepal, but I did sleep very well. How I love the sound of rain on my tent. It is the sound of freedom… and it also blocks out the noise of any critters that might disturb my sleep.

The morning plan was to hike 2 miles to the remote headwaters of a class A wild trout stream that I never fished before. I would have to believe the stream would be flowing very hard and fishing would be difficult, not to mention the hike in. Also, I had no trail. I would use my phone as a compass and bushwhack down the side of the mountain to find the stream. Well, it just might have to wait for another day…. but then after breaking down camp, the sun started poking through the clouds and my spirits instantly uplifted. Game on!! Let’s do this!!
