Jason Bickford has been around 603 EVO for a long time, as an athlete, an employee, and now as a professional pitcher preparing for his next opportunity in 2027.
The stuff has never really been the question.
When Jason is in the strike zone, good things happen. He doesn’t get hit hard very often, so one of the biggest priorities for us this offseason is pretty simple: can we get his best stuff in the zone more consistently?
That was the focus of this session.
From peak leg lift into his move down the mound, we’re working on getting his pelvis underneath his rib cage and keeping his torso sideways for as long as possible.
The feel we’re chasing is a little more weight toward the backside of his body as he starts moving forward.
When Jason gets too much pressure toward the front of his body early, you can see him start to drift toward the first-base side and get into more of a cross-fired position.
For him, I think that makes getting the baseball into the strike zone consistently harder than it needs to be.
So right now the thought is pretty simple:
Pelvis underneath us.
Feel the backside.
Stay sideways as long as possible.
Then let the ball go.
These throws were only around 65 to 75% intensity, and you can see the intent gradually start to increase throughout the session.
The next step is seeing if we can maintain the same movement pattern as the intensity continues to climb this offseason.
We’re not trying to completely change who Jason is as a pitcher.
We’re trying to help him access the stuff he already has in the strike zone more consistently.
If we can do that, I think he gives himself a really good opportunity to find the right home for 2027.
